Uhm... there was no "DB7 Vantage" in 1987. A DB7 first came out in the 1990s. The car in TLD was a V8 Vantage. Anyhow, give me that one over the Lotus anytime. And keep the "usual refinements".

I thank you for pointing out my error. I shall correct the post lest others wonder why I chose a car that doesn't exist. Must talk to my crack research team.

I don't think anyone said DB7. And the car in TLD wasn't a Vantage, it was a standard AMV8, or at least badged as one (well, it was a Volante until it wasn't of course ;) )

    Ah okay, didn't catch that.
  • The Lotus, no question. My all-time favourite Bond car. Such a beautiful aesthetic to it, like a glimpse of a future that never quite came. Just one snag: I seem to recall Roger Moore saying it was so low-slung it was impossible to get in and out of it with any dignity!

It does feel a bit cruel when they make him crawl out of it on camera in FYEO!

    Vantage, no question.
There are no bad angles of that car and it sounds amazing

Aston. However, if the Lotus were the turbo from FYEO I'd go that white one.

The 1985 Aston Martin V8 MkIV or Vantage or otherwise is the most beautiful car I ever saw. Plus it can fit a cello case in the back seat. So that one.

I’m glad the Bond one wasn’t a Vantage, I think they look better without that body kit. I’m not keen on the big chin spoiler.

Funnily enough, the TLD cars were a bit of a mixed bag of ages: AM had a long waiting list so couldn’t give Eon new cars. I think one of them was as old as a 1973 car.

I love the Lotus, and it's instantly recognisable as a Bond car by everyone, but I hear they break down constantly. Plus the Aston is an auto so I might manage to drive it semi-competently.

(who am I kidding, I drove one on a 'Bond car experience' and stalled it 3 times getting it on to the track)

I adore the Guglielmo Giugiaro design on the Esprit, I must say. But the Aston is just so synonimous with TLD, I couldn't refuse it.

You make the choices so hard. The Lotus has the instantly recognizable, iconic Giugiaro wedge shape, while the AM in the late 80s was stuck with the design aesthetics of late 60s/early 70s American muscle cars (Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, etc). But still, the V8 would be my choice, for the leather, the dash, the sound.

As I do love that musclecar look, I'd definately go for the AM. The Lotus has a design I just don't like. I'd prefer it in blue or green.

btw, on this car's subject, I just realised Bond in Skyfall directly copied an idea of Johnny English almost 10 years prior (JE Reborn) where JE takes an old AM to be untracable for the digi-savvy bad guy.

That's from Johnny English Strikes Again, which came out six years after Skyfall.
There's me saying I'm not keen on the Vantage look, but that one does look supercool. Rowan Atkinson has always been a fan of them (he bought a new one in the 80s) and bought that actual car for himself!

And as DB7 Vantages have been mentioned, obviously Johnny drove one of those in his first movie! And he does one of the all-time coolest bits of Aston Martin stunt-driving in it.

I think that's one of the best-looking AM's ever. Sorry to go off topic, lads. Please continue ;)

Ah, yes, sorry, I got my JE's all mixed up. Too distracted by the car ;-)

And yes, that DB7, and especially that stunt, are awesome.

Aston Martin for sure. It's the best Bond car from any of the films.

Loved the TSWLM Lotus but not a fan of FYEO lotus

Good stuff! A clear favourite but the Esprit got some love too,

Would you rather fly Little Nellie OR the Acrostar?

One is equipped with an arsenal that will keep any bullies away. The air on your face as you fly with ease in the clouds. The best thing you can stow it away in a couple of pieces of luggage when you are not taking to the skies above.

    OR

A mini jet that can out race missiles and perform tight maneuvers with ease. No weapons on this plane, but it does certainly look fun to tootle around in. Best part you can fill it up at a regular petrol station. This doesn't fit in a bag but in a horse trailer or any other tiny space you may have.

So if you could choose, which one are you taking up to the clouds?

Not the biggest fan of YOLT, but I always loved Little Nellie. So I'd choose her.
