However much I love the story, and above all Ian's writing, the story itself would end up beeing very short in a cinematic version anyway. And as a PTS I don't think it would work, as the PTS needs to set up the story of the main film as well.
So the PTS could be largely a standalone episode - as per Goldfinger - but perhaps the damsel who turn up later to provide a connection
I agree that the PTS could be too short, although NTTD ran for 24min which should be plenty to tell a stand-alone short story.
On to another one.
Would you rather a female vocalist OR a male vocalist for the Theme Song?
We are getting ahead of ourselves, but what the heck it's kind of fun to play with this question.
Through out the series Bond songs have been a staple, in recent years winning Oscars for best song. We have examples of both male and female vocalists singing the song.
Do you have a preference for the gender of the singer? Bonus marks if you share a name of a singer you would like to see warble the theme song.
Don't think we will ever get an instrumental track again for the theme song, but it is interesting that most of the introduction of a new Bond have had a male singer.
I like a good female vocalist for Bond though. I'll go with that, but either one could work.
From Russia with love, the first song with "Bond sound".
That's where the Bond sound comes from, after all. Big Band, Jazz, or whatever you want to call it.
But hey, it’s a step up from Three Blind Mice whatever way!
There is something quite compelling about a strong female vocal in a Bond song. I actually think that’s why Adele was perfect for SF (I’d argue that’s a song which mixes bombast with that more somber feel). Someone like Billy Eilish with her soft, whispery voice - good as she is - just has a different feel.
I will say I really dislike Surrender though. To me it always sounded like a knock off of a Bond song - the singer doing her best Shirley Bassey impression, the weirdly unmemorable chorus, the generic ‘Bondian’ sound to the whole thing etc.
I love that song!
and it's the most integrated one to the story of any film.
But they won't do that again, as titles have become a thing on theri own. I'll go for instrumental. It would be fresh, Bondian, and a good start.
Jessie Ware
Raye
Beth Gibbons
Lianne La Havas
Incidentally, all British, but not required.
Yeah, Raye's still the one for me :-bd
Bingo !
And yeah, I'd have to say female voice for me too, they are more memorable in my ears. But we also do need something more energetic IMO and less somber as they were as of late.
Thru out the film series we have seen some wonderful gadgets in the films.
Have you ever thought of owning one or two? Lets see which gadget you would rather own.
Would you rather own the Lotus Esprit OR Aston Martin V8 Vantage?
The 1977 car versus the 1987 car.
The Lotus with it's sporty look, sleek design and ability to dive into the water effortlessly. Missiles, mud slinging are bonus features along with the ability to drop a mine or two.
OR
The Aston Martin Vantage with a solid sleek look. The car has traction for snow filled roads, missiles and even skis to help with winter terrain.
Which one are you keeping in your garage?
