Bahamas. Imagine staying at Palmyra; dining at the Cafe Martinique; exploring the Vulcan wreck.

I'd rather go to Paris in '85 than today, that's for sure. Though the Bahamas in the 60's sounds super Bondian, so I'll prefer that one regardless.

Not a huge fan of Paris, but I’ve been a couple of times. Never been to the Bahamas. Going from what I’ve seen of them onscreen I’ll go for 60s Bahamas.

Don't forget a dance at the Kiss Kiss club. But beware of the drum solos.

This is definately not a fair fight. Bahamas.

Paris is s***t. But that's just my personal opinion.

    Okay another one sided outcome.

    One last one for us

    1963 Istanbul OR 1981 Cortina?

Istanbul in the 1960s was a mesmerizing crossroads of eras and empires a city balanced between East and West, tradition and modernity. The call to prayer echoed across the Bosphorus as ferries glided between Europe and Asia, carrying a mix of merchants, diplomats, and dreamers. The skyline shimmered with domes and minarets, while new hotels and cafés along Taksim Square hinted at a modern age emerging. It was a time of transformation: bustling bazaars still thrived beneath the scent of spice and tobacco, but the city was looking outward — cosmopolitan, curious, and quietly confident in its timeless allure.

    OR

By the 1980s, Cortina d’Ampezzo was where alpine charm met Italian sophistication. Nestled in the Dolomites, it had evolved from a postwar ski town into a glamorous retreat for Europe’s elite. The slopes were dotted with colorful ski suits and mirrored sunglasses, while evenings glowed with après-ski cocktails and laughter spilling from chic mountain lodges. Fashion, luxury, and sport intertwined — part winter wonderland, part runway. Beneath it all, the crisp mountain air and breathtaking scenery reminded visitors why Cortina had become known as the “Queen of the Dolomites” — elegant, exhilarating, and endlessly cinematic.

I hear the ice cream was good in Cortina, while in Istanbul you had to be careful of two way mirrors. Where are you taking Q's time machine?

Italy always wins. So Cortina d'Ampezzo for me.

Excellent posts. Lets leave the time machine for a second and dive into the world of fashion when it comes to Bond.

Would you rather Bond appear in the Pre-Title Sequence OR Bond not appear?

As I reflect on the series it hit me that Bond doesn't appear in the PTS of DN OR FRWL. It wasn't until GF that Bond appeared in the mini-mission. Roger Moore didn't appear in either of the PTS of LALD Or TMWTGG. Those are the unicorns, though I suppose with more than one it isn't a unicorn anymore.

We have had a few PTS where Bond appears briefly in the PTS and doesn't do much, I think of YOLT for this example.

Starting with Spy the producers seemed to think the PTS was the perfect place for a jaw dropping stunt to grab audience attention. TSWLM Ski jump, the MR parachute-less free fall and the bungee jump of GE spring to mind here.

So the question at hand do you prefer Bond appear in the PTS or that his entrance to the movie be after the theme song?

Who wants to be the pedant? :P

Only kidding though, I know what you mean of course. I don't like Bond not to appear, really: they're his films.

The pre-title sequences have become a monster of their own and to not have Bond in it would be worse than, say, not having the gun barrel at the start. In some cases, the opening action has been the highlight of the entire film - I'm looking at you, TWINE. But even a brief one can have major impact without the big stunt such as CR, it wouldn't work without Bond.

    Definitely Bond appear.

TSWLM's PTS is definitely a reaction to the lukewarm welcome of TMWTGG: Bond is back, baby!

If TMWTGG had been better received, I wonder if we would not have had a string of stunt PTSes.

I'm open to both and to be honest I kinda like the novelty of not having Bond appear.

The thing is, if Bond is not in the pre-title sequence, there needs to be a *really* good reason why. There has to be purpose, not just for the sake of it. Consider the ones that have done it:

FRWL - I love how clever this one is, which is why they probably made it a pre-title sequence in the first place. I am curious if they knew at this time they were setting up the template for all future films. For as short as it is, it achieves so much. It surprises the audience at least for a half second to see Bond not escape. It creates intrigue by making the audience question what they just watched. It also showcases the henchman, sets up the plot, and foreshadows a plot point to be called back on. Solid use of concept.

TMWTGG - This showcases the villain whose movie title is named after. It, like FRWL, sets up foreshadowing to add suspense in the final scenes. They even do a little Bond jumpscare. Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but really love this concept and find the execution decent. Solid use of concept.

LALD - Setup to showcase the villain and set the plot in motion. The thing is, this left Moore to be introduced as Bond in an unusual way. Personally, I don't find the concept or execution to be great, and I think it drags the film down, so... Not so great.

So with that, I think the door has been opened, if the plot warrants it. Probably not a great idea for introducing the next Bond, but if it can be tastefully and purposefully done, I think it could easily rival many of the pre-title sequences with Bond in it.

Depends on how it’s done, and of course even in FRWL and TMWTGG Bond finds his way into the PTS. I think it could work without Bond,, so long as the opening has a strong concept.

I think they’ll want to get Bond onscreen as quickly as possible though. That’s probably what Bond 26 needs, but in theory either could work.
