    He’ll probably anticipate a betrayal, but play along with a contingency plan. Pretty standard Supes/Lex dynamic. We briefly see that play out in SUPERMAN II.

    To be fair, one thing the movie establishes is that Supernan trusts the goodness in people too easily.
    I also think Gunn is unlikely to shy away from using any of the wackier comic villains when he already put Krypto and Mr Terrific in his film.

    Only James Gunn would look at a joke of a character like Polkadot Man and say he’s gonna inject some humanity in it. He does seem to gravitate towards the most ridiculous heroes which is probably why PEACEMAKER is his best DC output. He just gravitates towards D list characters and finds something to make them stand out. I guess that’s not such a surprise given how he turned GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY into an A+ property.

    Yeah good points.
    I must admit I tried the first ep of the new series of Peacemaker and struggled with it a bit. I thought the first series was terrific but this one didn't grab me at all for some reason.

    Yeah, is that a weird biased article or something? I don't know the site, but the line "If Man of Tomorrow doesn’t reverse the downward trend started by Superman, Gunn’s DCU could end before it ever fully begins." threw me a bit- what downward trend? It only just came out and there hasn't been anything else yet, how can one film be a trend?

    You have to remember that while the Snyder-verse had and has its critics some enjoyed the movie. Many were passionate about Henry returning as Sups. Now are a majority of fans hoping for a return? I would say no that ship or cape has sailed.

    It will be interesting to see if the rumours are right and that is WB is purchased does Gunn survive?

    I'm not sure the reasoning behind all these rumors of Gunn being booted from DC. People can complain all they want, but the fact of the matter is that Gunn and Safran remain the best chance there is at finally bringing a coherent DC universe to the big screen. I liked the Snyder films, but it's time to forget any hopes of a revival - especially when you consider most of the actors are entering their 40's and 50's or are wildly divisive people off screen. With the new Superman film, DC is in the best position that they've been in years - even beating Marvel at the box office for the first time since the release of The Dark Knight . For potential buyers to wipe the slate clean by getting rid of Gunn/Safran and starting new with yet another Superman or Batman reboot would likely mean the death of any iteration of a DC universe on screen because at that point audiences won't care. For any film executive to make a decision like that would be incredibly stupid and naive. DC is fighting an uphill battle to win back audiences and judging by the Superman's positive critical reception and it's current performance on streaming, they seem in a good/safe spot.

    Also, I wouldn't trust Cosmic Book News for any information pertaining to stuff like this.

    Sort of - but they’re also amongst that “Anti-Woke” crowd who go and complain endlesssly because they see one person of different color/ethnicity in a film and automatically assume the worst. It’s a trashy site.

    Conservatives have tried to cancel James Gunn for many years over his political tweets that blasted the Trump administration. They almost did succeed, as Disney briefly booted him off of GOTG3 as a knee jerk reaction, before hiring him back months later. The ironic thing is that event lead to Gunn’s first involvement with DC on THE SUICIDE SQUAD, and now he runs the studio!

    In short, had they not tried canceling him back in 2018, he probably wouldn’t be running DC today.

    It definitely was politically motivated as it was Mike Cernovich who was the ringleader over trying to cancel Gunn.

    There was large public persuasion against him based on his comments about women. I'm not denying your claim either, nor that it was the mechanism of his removal, but he pissed a lot of people off on both sides of the spectrum.

    I'm not sure what is behind the rumours that he's likely out if WB is sold. I have heard this rumour floating on multiple sites. Usually where there is smoke there is fire. It would be a shame to re-boot a DC universe again. Even though I wasn't a fan of Gunn's Superman I wouldn't write the whole thing off based on the performance of one movie. Though that's kind of what happened to Synder as it was Justice League that was his un-doing.

    The rumors of Gunn’s dismissal are mostly stemming from a ton of Snyder fans on social media, who are hopeful of his return.

    Snyder has this weird thing going on where he has a cult fan base, but they only care about his DC output. They didn't seem to give much attention to his work on Netflix. Two attempts to kickstart franchises with ARMY OF THE DEAD and then REBEL MOON. Both franchises that have now flopped and are cancelled.
