He’ll probably anticipate a betrayal, but play along with a contingency plan. Pretty standard Supes/Lex dynamic. We briefly see that play out in SUPERMAN II.
I also think Gunn is unlikely to shy away from using any of the wackier comic villains when he already put Krypto and Mr Terrific in his film.
Only James Gunn would look at a joke of a character like Polkadot Man and say he’s gonna inject some humanity in it. He does seem to gravitate towards the most ridiculous heroes which is probably why PEACEMAKER is his best DC output. He just gravitates towards D list characters and finds something to make them stand out. I guess that’s not such a surprise given how he turned GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY into an A+ property.
I must admit I tried the first ep of the new series of Peacemaker and struggled with it a bit. I thought the first series was terrific but this one didn't grab me at all for some reason.

Brainiac confirmed? Maybe another surprise villain(s)?

It will be interesting to see if the rumours are right and that is WB is purchased does Gunn survive?
Also, I wouldn't trust Cosmic Book News for any information pertaining to stuff like this.
Would you have get Henry back?
Never say never again, as someone famous once said.
Michael Keaton became Batman again, I wouldn't rule anything out in this life.
How you rate Cavill as Superman?
Are they Snyder people then? That article read a bit oddly.
Sort of - but they’re also amongst that “Anti-Woke” crowd who go and complain endlesssly because they see one person of different color/ethnicity in a film and automatically assume the worst. It’s a trashy site.
In short, had they not tried canceling him back in 2018, he probably wouldn’t be running DC today.
It definitely was politically motivated as it was Mike Cernovich who was the ringleader over trying to cancel Gunn.
"James Gunn got into controversy back in 2018 over a series of old tweets (mostly from 2008–2012) that resurfaced.
Those tweets contained offensive jokes — particularly about rape, pedophilia, and other taboo topics. They were intended as dark humor from his early career (before his Marvel work), but when they reemerged, many found them deeply inappropriate.
As a result:
Disney temporarily fired him from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in July 2018.
After widespread support from the cast and fans — and Gunn’s public apology, where he said he had changed and grown as a person — Disney rehired him in 2019.
The people who resurfaced the tweets (notably some right-wing commentators) did so in response to his anti-Trump posts, suggesting a political motive behind the resurfacing, not the original tweets themselves.
So in short:
❌ The tweets themselves → not political.
⚡ The controversy → politically charged, because it happened amid U.S. culture-war tensions and social media partisanship."
I'm not sure what is behind the rumours that he's likely out if WB is sold. I have heard this rumour floating on multiple sites. Usually where there is smoke there is fire. It would be a shame to re-boot a DC universe again. Even though I wasn't a fan of Gunn's Superman I wouldn't write the whole thing off based on the performance of one movie. Though that's kind of what happened to Synder as it was Justice League that was his un-doing.
Snyder has this weird thing going on where he has a cult fan base, but they only care about his DC output. They didn't seem to give much attention to his work on Netflix. Two attempts to kickstart franchises with ARMY OF THE DEAD and then REBEL MOON. Both franchises that have now flopped and are cancelled.
