Villeneuve has cited CR and SF as his favorites, so I think you're right.
Yes, that also is a relief. Something tells he will also look at all the movies, for influence. The fact that Knight is looking at the books is also a relief. It doesn't surprise me that the movie could get another writer. It's a natural part of the creative process.

I think he's right. To think that Lee Child could have written a Bond novel. Maybe he could write a Bond novel spinoff.
He was on BBC Breakfast a little while ago, I think it was just after the Amazon news came out, and spoke at length about Bond. I think he’s a fan.
Its one of the reasons why the series has survived over fifty years.
They have all Bond films on stream and the severall brands associated with Bond will have products do the job for them. Probably.
Perhaps a release date if we're lucky. Friday, November 10th 2028 is a good suggestion.
I agree a release date would be very reassuring to the fans, just so we know things are moving ahead as planned.
They took the gun out of his hands in the promo pictures😮.
From Navy to Mi6 would be something what i am interesting to see.

Having Chris Ryan as official consultant for the films might not be a bad idea.
While not as cinematically interesting my path for Bond would be Fettes->University of Geneva (where a friend of his father is a "professor") -> Defence Intelligence -> secondment, for cover reasons, as some sort of Naval Attache -> 00 section

The pub in the book? Great idea for a title!
Yes, it needs a big creative swing. A bit like a house needs renovating every so often, so does a franchise like Bond, and no better time for it.
And as I’ve said before, I don’t expect everyone here to like it.
I don't think so. There was talk of using the early novels as inspiration. So the film will most likely be similar to Casino Royale.
Yes, we have Villeneuve, but this director also made Sicario, which is still an old-school thriller.
I didn’t say they’d try to emulate them. Just that the past three movies are likely the most similar point of reference.
A lot of the Bond films have had troubled productions. Also, the last two Craig films (yes, even Bond 25) were incredibly successful. So, they'll definitely be looking at them for guidance on how to continue that success.
It’ll be a bit like that I think with Bond 26. I don’t see any reason it’ll be a complete course correction, but they’ll do their own thing. It’ll be similar but different to paraphrase Knight.
I mention it because I'm always surprised how many negative comments I see for NTTD on social media. Perhaps eight or nine out of ten people are unhappy with the film, and the direction the series took.
It's worse now than it was a few years ago. Judging by these comments, there's a real feel that people want a return to formula, and I don't think this type of feeling will go un-noticed by Amazon, (if it is indeed a true reflection of peoples' taste).
The people that were happy with the film I think, were probably younger who were on board with the Craig films, and hadn't got sentimental attachment to the franchise overall.
I wonder what the best way to judge the wider public's view is?
I know one thing, when people say 'look how much it took at the box office' as a barometer of public approval, I never trust that. Loads of people went to see it because it was James Bond, and Craig's last, and it was reviewed well. But I think a great proportion of people that went to see it came away disappointed. More than fans of the film would like to admit.
But seek what you want on the internet and you’ll find it. I’m sure many Superman fans out there are convinced no one likes the latest film and Snyder’s instalments are all universally loved because they only see negative opinions about it online. But let’s face it, that’s not true and a wide audience enjoyed the movie ;) and take it from me, the new one isn’t a film I loved.
I can only say this anecdotally, but I know a few people who saw NTTD - some who don’t much like Bond films - and all thought it was a pretty good film. Maybe not up there with CR or SF, but pretty good. Actually having rewatched it I can’t help but admire and enjoy NTTD, as much as I have criticisms about it. In hindsight it’s a very poignant Bond film too.
