I feel like the angle they have to go with is, Lex is ultimately tricking Superman for his own gain or advantage, even if they team up. He will try to get something out of whatever situation they face. The big trick of the movie will be convincing me personally of how Superman should ever trust this guy after the first movie.

He’ll probably anticipate a betrayal, but play along with a contingency plan. Pretty standard Supes/Lex dynamic. We briefly see that play out in SUPERMAN II.

To be fair, one thing the movie establishes is that Supernan trusts the goodness in people too easily.
I also think Gunn is unlikely to shy away from using any of the wackier comic villains when he already put Krypto and Mr Terrific in his film.

Only James Gunn would look at a joke of a character like Polkadot Man and say he’s gonna inject some humanity in it. He does seem to gravitate towards the most ridiculous heroes which is probably why PEACEMAKER is his best DC output. He just gravitates towards D list characters and finds something to make them stand out. I guess that’s not such a surprise given how he turned GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY into an A+ property.

    Yeah good points.
I must admit I tried the first ep of the new series of Peacemaker and struggled with it a bit. I thought the first series was terrific but this one didn't grab me at all for some reason.

Brainiac confirmed? Maybe another surprise villain(s)?

I’ll be shocked if it’s not. Gunn is definitely playing coy.

Yeah I don't think he tries to mislead the fanbase: it's Brainiac.

The Man of Tomorrow will reunite with the Wall-Crawler in both a reprint of their old crusades and two new stories as part of the fiftieth anniversary of their crossover in the comics.
