    One of the pleasures of watching THE AVENGERS/NEW AVENGERS is seeing various actors that seem familiar to me, but aren't really. For example, in watching "The Midas Touch" I was curious about the actress who plays Miss Sing. Turns out Pik-Sen Lim was in various TV shows and films over the decades like DR.WHO (1971) and JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN (2011). Sadly, she just passed away in June of this year (2025).

    I kind of lost interest in The Avengers during (or at least after) the Tara King season (and yes, I'm talking about the late 60s when it was shown on German TV). I didn't care about it that much after Diana Rigg left, not because of Linda Thorson, but more because I couldn't stand the "Mother" character that I felt was a superfluous nuisance. I never picked up on it when "The New Avengers" came along. I would have preferred another John Steed/some woman team over all those experiments. Purdey was ok, I guess, but no need for Gareth Hunt. The cancellation after a single season speaks for itself.

    The guest stars in both series are second to none and have a lot of cross over with Doctor Who. I was watching an episode at work last night and Donald Sutherland was guest starring, of course Donald appeared in The Saint also.

    Incredibly Martin Shaw and Lewis Collins first paired up as villains in The New Avengers and would later team up again as good guys in The Professionals as Bodie and Doyle.

    Most notable guest star in The New Avengers, in addition to Peter Cushing, was Caroline Munro as an "Angel of Death".

    And I was lucky enough to see Dame Joanna on stage at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane (which curiously is not on Drury Lane). I enjoyed the evening very much.

    There were two seasons to be fair.
    I thought it had its moments.
