Well, he was supposed to reprise his role in 'the topkapi affair', based on an ambler book. Sadly, it never materialised. http://wikibin.org/articles/the-topkapi-affair.html

Oh yeah I'd forgotten about that. With Paul Verhoeven- hard to imagine what that might have been!
Probably for the best to be honest, it doesn't feel like something which needs a sequel.

Brosnan is completely miscast in Thursday murder club, unfortunately.

    Topkapi by Paul Verhoven?

    The mind boggles!

I watched "Live Wire" last night, a TV movie from Brozza's post RS / pre JB pergatory period

Typical lurid, bonkers '90s action movie, but entertaining

THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB Official Trailer (2025) Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Netflix

As a fan of the genre looking forward to this, looks like fun. Directed by Chris Columbus no less, I will likely purchase this if possible.

I watched the first 15mins or so of Thursday Murder Club over lunch, that was a tough old watch. I can enjoy a bit of twee cosiness but it just seems so far removed from reality and the actors aren't showing any sort of connection to each other that I couldn't get into it at all. You'd think it would kick off with some good gags or something. Maybe it improves.

Brosnan's Lahndan accent makes an occasional appearance, otherwise he sounds his usual self, and nothing wrong with that.

EDIT: Watching a bit more and I thought it had a familiar sound to it, and yes, it's a Thomas Newman score.

Finished it, it gets a little better and passes the time when you're stuck on the sofa with covid, but my goodness, what a lot of nothing. There's much better murder mystery stories out there. Pierce is fine and brings his usual charm but has nothing to do other than be a nice bloke.
Tom Ellis is good casting as Pierce's son.

It seems very expensive, they build lots of beautiful sets (including a whole street at one point for no apparent reason) and the cast is ridiculously starry, almost pointlessly so.

I'm actually hoping this is not a faithful adaptation, because I found the novel ridiculously convoluted with story threads that went nowhere.
