The Assisted Dying Bill, put forward by Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, has today passed its second reading in the UK House of Commons with a majority of 55. There were 330 votes in favour and 275 votes against. It would change the law on assisted dying in England and Wales. Now the bill is off to committee stage where it can be amended.

I must say that I'm surprised that this has went through as it's a very controversial topic. I personally am opposed to the legalisation of assisted dying. I feel that it's a slippery slope and an Assisted Dying Bill now could be a halfway house to further liberalisation over assisted suicide later with less and less safeguards in place.

A US trial court judge mistakenly reads the jury's verdict as Guilty instead of Not Guilty. Well, I suppose we all make mistakes...but what a mistake to make!

Good grief, thinking about getting home for his dinner or something I guess; that's pretty shocking.

Someone said it was muscle memory. Still, a pretty bad mistake to make. Thankfully the jurors pulled him up on it!

    You want sharia?

Or fascism? A return to law and order and capital punishment?

I don't think personally that the threat of capital punishment ever stopped anyone committing a crime. I'm opposed to its reintroduction to the UK.

Well I'm flaming well not opposed, and there was less violent crime against what we see today vs yesterday for example the kray twins were certainly dangerous within their own gangland world and for sure a problem to the law however women were safer to walk the streets ,the elderly free-er from mugging and up and coming tearaways and drug Lords dealt with permanently.
