Who could've been Bond?

He appears to be locked in to a neverending loop of Harlan Cobben adaptations on Netflix

An actor's idea of Hell, probably.

My somewhat controversial opinions are that neither Turner nor Armitage had the charisma/swagger to play Bond despite being good actors and looking the part to some extent.

I don't see it for Armitage either, to be honest. That said I always thought that he's had so far a smaller career than he could have had.

I suppose most actors won’t have those A-List careers. He’s making money at any rate. He’s successful compared to most actors.

But even taking a bigger actor like Michael Fassbender I never believed he had that same charisma to break through to Bond (I acknowledge he never really had the chance incidentally, but despite being a good character actor I never thought he had what it took to do Bond, and his attempts to lead bigger blockbusters never quite worked - in part for reasons slightly beyond his control).

To be fair you could probably say the same of most actors who actually did play Bond, outside of the Bond films themselves that is, and Fassbender has arguably had a bigger career than many of them. I think he'd have been able to do a very decent job, I don't think he was a massive missed opportunity or anything, but I think it was in his wheelhouse. Unlike, as you say, Turner or Armitage (both Hobbits, incidentally!) who I don't think would have made the switch to the big screen.

I suppose. I think his sexual assault allegations (regardless of how much they amount to/are truthful) would have come back up more to haunt him with that lead a role. And I agree he wouldn’t have exactly been an upgrade from Craig. And ultimately he never would have had that opportunity.

I would have liked to have seen Jason Isaacs' take on Bond.
He was unlucky (if he had wanted it) as he was likely too young when Brosnan got it and then a bit too old when Craig got it. Sometimes when an actor has been born has ruled them out.

True, but I always thought he seemed to be heading for something bigger, a bit like Eric Bana.
