Yes, it's a stupid question. "I want to make good movies, not like the ones you've been making."
Don't tell me I'll have to watch another predictable romcom just to see a potential Bond actor. The worst thing is: I'll do it.
It's actually a hard question for the actor to answer, if the producers don't know which direction they want!
It was probably a bit more straightforward (in a deceptive way I guess) for the ‘05 lot considering they were adapting CR… so saying ‘go back to the books’ is probably not a bad way to begin that answer, but the explanation gives a sense of how the actor thinks about the character. Which is probably useful.
He’s easily the best out of Holland and Elordi.
My guess (if it’s true) is that Amazon seem to be looking for a young Bond, so many of our favourite choices could be ruled out.
Elori would probably be more interesting to girls.
Edit: Found the guy:
Good eyebrows. Have no idea if he’s a good actor. Could be groomed into the role, a bit like Connery (?)
He’s 27 btw, will be 30 by the time the film is made. Perfect?
First picture I find him very androgynous. Not so much the second one. If he's got the talent of his uncles (his dad?), then he's worth a screen test.
I can't see anything about him that shouts out 'Bond potential' although he looks tall ish. Certainly taller than Tom Holland. I think the guy from Netflix film My Oxford Year - Corey Mylchreest - looks a better fit for a younger Bond:
I think he'd fit the First Light video game image of Bond. He's the only actor I've seen that I can imagine as an Amazon Bond. If he can act tough and reasonably suave..... well, he may be worth considering.
Right? The new James Bond is... Hero :)
What about other actors? Any hopes there?
Give them a minute, they need to like, write the script first.
The Bonds are shrinking down to my height now!
I wish I could say I'm ambivalent for us short folks...but I'm not. Bond must be tall!
I couldn't agree more. It baffles me to even consider Holland as a possibility. He's an amazing Spider-Man. Possibly my favorite, but that doesn't make him Bond.
Although an actor may have substantial success in a role or franchise, and end up top on the list for other high profile parts, that doesn't necessarily make them suitable.
Tom Holland being up for Bond is akin to Charles Bronson having been considered for Superman.
It’s not so much the height for me as it’s just such a bland way of catering to a younger audience.
He tried pitching the idea for a younger James Bond film around the filming of Spider-Man - Far From Home in which he essentially described the idea as “Not being revealed as a Bond film until the end.” Like that could ever be a damn possibility - here’s a quote from him;
"He was supposed to just be a kid who was graduating into the SAS and goes on a mission, which is obviously exciting and adventurous. At the end of the film, he would be recruited into MI:6 and given the status of double-O and the title of James Bond," he said. I thought it was really cool, but no one else, I guess, thought it was cool."
Geez I wonder why 🙄
I agree especially coming after the Craig era and its success - which for my problems with some of those films and the tone of his era overall at least they had artistic integrity. Any goodwill that may have been left after the hiring of Pascal, Heyman, and Villeneuve could go away rather quickly if Holland is cast.

Candidate for Felix Leiter, perhaps?
I saw this video this morning, I don't know what it is but I always get a kick out of famous people geeking out over Bond.
@LucknFate thanks for the info mate, even though Holland as Bond scares the living daylights out of me.
I'd feel so much more relaxed if Debbie McWilliams was still onboard
It eventually got developed into Uncharted, which wasn’t great. It’s another instance of a big director or actor approaching EON and claiming they had an earth shatteringly good concept for a new movie (and it always seemed to amount to a period piece Bond or a young Bond thing. I suspect Amazon will get a bit of this nonsense too).
As for Holland as Bond, I would say stranger actors have been considered, and you’d expect them to weigh it up carefully. I can see them considering him in that detached way, weighing up what benefits and downsides he’d bring. Ultimately though, making the choice to audition and/or cast him is another thing altogether.
I must admit, it’d be unnecessary, and honestly a bit upsetting if he were to become the next Bond. I have nothing against him and actually like him as Spiderman, but it’d feel like stunt casting, as if he’s muscled his way past better candidates due to his fame. It’s not a good look for Amazon who are clearly trying to position themselves as competent leads of this franchise. I actually think in practice this would be one of the most controversial, if not one of the worst things they could do. I don’t actually think there’s even much desire in practice to see him as Bond.
My suspicion is it’s very early days, and we’re obviously not in casting yet. As is often the case the first to be rumoured are rarely the ones to get the role (that’s why I’m skeptical it’ll be Holland, Elordi, or Dickinson, as much as I think the latter is worth considering).
But it was enough to have me convinced Holland might be having serious talks and meeting with the right people. Just a heads up if that news comes down the line.
I also asked about the vehicles in the new IOI game First Light, and they said that as far as they know, there are licensing agreements but no further involvement by the brands (so for example Triumph and Aston Martin have little/no say over how the vehicles in the game actually drive, but this person did say they likely provided audio or consulted for audio to get engine and exhaust noise right).
But then again I suppose I’ve been surprised by Bond in the past, haha.
Edit. Found it. Just google Tom Holland Aston Martin and take a look. It’s not Bond related. Things just got mixed up because of the Variety article.
It won’t be the three wishlist candidates. Dickinson will be filming the four Beatles films with Sam Mendes, Holland is a ridiculous consideration, and the other fella is a two meter Aussie. They just wanted to test the waters on the young Bond thing.
Am I sure? Of course not ;)
That Aston event is specifically what I asked about. I asked if the guy I met was there and met him, and he said no. But that's when he got incredibly nervous. Just saying! You want it to be nothing, but that's not the feeling I got in the room with people who likely know more than you :)
