Just saw JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH on 4DX (my first time going to one).

I only have one quibble and that concerns the ending pulling a rather chickenshit move. Beyond that, it’s fine I guess? I enjoyed it for the most part. I don’t know where I’d rank it, because I have not seen JURASSIC WORLD or FALLEN KINGDOM since theaters, and I never saw DOMINION. If JURASSIC PARK is a 10/10, this falls somewhere in 6-7.

Score was nice. I didn’t realize who it was until the credits, but I knew it was not Giacchino.

I also forgot this was Gareth Edwards. For what it’s worth then, I enjoyed it more than the snoozefests that were GODZILLA and ROGUE ONE.

Just saw F1. Blown away by it. The car action sequences are some of the best I've ever seen on film. Edge-of-your-seat throughout, Kosinski outdoing himself with the class direction he did on Top Gun, and Zimmer producing one of his best scores in years.

Finally Brad Pitt. This was a role he was born to play. Rooting for him and the team from the beginning right the way to the checkered flag at the end.

Unmissable. You have to see this on the biggest screen possible.

I'm glad you liked it. It felt very middle of the road effort for me, even Pitt felt bored to me. I wish he brought more Moneyball to this, less, smug empty charm? And I'm a car journalist, I need a little more than the camera mounted to the car to feel something special. I enjoyed the movie, but will probably never put it back on my TV. It was better than watching a real F1 race, I'll give it that.

    Crash Dive (1997)
    1177.entity.jpg
This is the 3rd Dudikoff film i've seen, and so far, nothing has blown my socks off. Crash Dive is just Die Hard on a Submarine. But The Hunt For Red October or Crimson Tide this is not. A few brief fights, and a memorable death for the villain is all Crash Dive has to offer.
The USS Ulysses is on routine manoeuvres, when they pick up a distress call. Surfacing to pick up the handful of survivors, before submerging again. Once beneath the waves, the survivors reveal themselves to be terrorists when they overrun the crew and take control of the Ulysses. The Navy brass bring in a former Seal who also designed the Ulysses. His job is to get aboard, and disable the warheads, before they can be used.

Recently saw the trailer for this, and though i have zero interest in motor racing of any kind, it looks fantastic. Hopefully it will have that 'don't make em like that anymore' feel that 'TG Maverick' managed..

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025). Cheap horror entertainment. Predictable. One thing that I do find good about the Jurassic series is similar to Bond. When Spielberg and the Jurassic crew are in doubt, go back to Michael Crichton. When the movies use one of his two Jurassic books as scenes and influences, they’re usually the better scenes. There’s still a lot to adapt from his work! The actors were more or less on autopilot. Scarlett Johansson still doesn’t have many facial expressions. If Jonathan Bailey becomes the DCU Batman, (like some fans want), I would give him a chance, based on this. It seems while Spielberg is the Cubby Broccoli of the Jurassic series, David Koepp is basically the Richard Maibaum or Purvis and Wade of it. He’s always helping out with ideas, it seems. So while I enjoyed it, I will say follow your gut feeling (or your wallet, I’ll be honest) if you really want to watch it. Also, I think one of the locations that they filmed at was Scaramanga’s lair in The Man with the Golden Gun. If they make another Jurassic movie, great. If they don’t, great. I could go either way on seeing it.

I found it to be so poor my eyes teared up every time the John Williams theme played because I found it unworthy of it. How on earth have they continuously messed this thing up for the past three decades? The Jurassic Park trilogy is passable, the first being a colossal classic and the biggest cinema experience I've ever had, but this Jurassic World trite is just awful. How sad.

The recent films make even The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2 look like an absolute triumph. I have never understood people's hatred towards it -- with Spielberg directing and Williams' bongo score both "new" and adventurous, that film has some awesome moments to offer. Nothing in the recent batch comes close for me.

I know exactly what you’re referring to here, and I can’t agree more. I thought it was just cowardly. There are a couple other quibbles I have with it, but this is one of the mos obvious and immediately irksome to me. Definitely a 6-6.5/10 for me.

Agreed too. I’ll also add that I wouldn’t say no to Desplat scoring a Bond film in the future.

I agree, my friend. I actually really like The Lost World and the character development by Ian Malcom, who was a sceptic in the first one, albeit a happy one, and now is downright antithetical, cynical and suffering from ptsd. Also, the visual effects are second to none. The first three films had dinosaurs that felt real, scenarios that felt real, palpable production design. All of which are lacking in the Jurassic World films.
