And why would Amazon want their brand new Bond actor to be strongly identified with Spider-Man, another very high profile, successful franchise? How does that help Amazon make Bond 26 feel fresh? It doesn't. It's "just that bloke that plays Spider-Man." A cynical, grossly unimaginative casting choice.
I've no idea if Holland/Elordi/Dickinson are serious candidates, the final three names, or just click bait candidates to get publicity. Let's not forget The Sun and The Daily Mail ran with Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Bond, he's done a gun barrel sequence, he's signing this week. This was all nonsense. Made-up click bait to get traffic on their websites. Barbara Broccoli hadn't started work on Bond 26, she was planning to/considering to sell up to Amazon. There was no Bond 26 screenplay, no MGM finance in place, no studio space allocated, no director hired, no release date. Nothing. And yet the Daily Mail/The Sun continued marketing Taylor-Johnson as Bond. They didn't care that Eon were stalling Bond 26. All they cared about was getting people to click the "Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Bond" webpages. The Variety report may be more nonsense.
Be they real, authentic candidates or not, Holland makes no sense unless Spider-Man Brand New Day is a one-off film and Holland won't commit to future Spider-Man films and/or any Marvel spin-off film appearances.
My gut feeling is Amazon won't go with an Australian over a British actor. It's impossible to know for sure, we don't know, but to keep it completely British and avoid negative press: "why didn't they cast a British actor?" it makes sense to cast a Brit. If the Variety article is 100 percent factually accurate that means Dickinson is the most likely candidate. He's not committed to another big franchise, he's British, young, not a complete unknown but not an established leading man actor. If Amazon aren't going to consider anyone else (who knows)... he's the next Bond? I guess so.
😂 Yes, that always made me laugh. The fact that this top secret information is being conveyed on the largest possible map in front of the largest possible window is also a bit of a design flaw.
Don't worry Villeneuve is not available now either
Haha! Good point, I didn’t even think of that.
-Tom Bond
My personal preference is Jacob Elordi but I'm not totally opposed to Harris Dickenson either. We shall see.
Corey Mylchreest
British actor. Done tv work for Netflix so not a total unknown with no tv experience. Age 28.
His latest work:
He seems to tick some of the obvious boxes.
Good looking albeit in a soft ish way.
Decent voice.
Streaming tv work so not a complete unknown.
Right age.
Reminds me of Nicholas Hoult mixed with Tom Cruise in appearance.
I don't know if he has the acting ability/screen presence for Bond but a name I've never heard of before. May have potential.
I guess the chosen one is Dicikinson and the other candidates are there to make him look better. ;)
They may be the most well-known actors on the list, but Dickinson isn't exactly famous.
How many other actors under 30 can there be on the list? TV actors? Some theater actors?
Must admit I've not seen him in anything beyond that trailer. I do get Central Casting vibes from him if that makes sense (need a charming, stereotypical posh Englishman but without the pesky distinctiveness of a young Colin Firth or Hugh Grant? I got you).
But perhaps that's not fair. Who knows?
If he suddenly had the reputation of Brosnan and Remington Steele, I'd see something, but I think he lacks the weight to stand up on his own right now. I'd screentest him over two on that shortlist for sure.
Certainly does. And there's some mystique about him.
But it's anyone's guess if he'll get the role or how he'd hypothetically do during an audition. I'm a fan of his though. I'd be happy if he were Bond.
I believe they're set to get married soon. It's beyond dating now. Yeah...I think he would be great as Bond. I like his voice and old English look.
This is a good thing. No one knew who Craig was either.
