I was about to make a joking remark that he never recovered from the use of California Girls in AVTAK. But Brian Wilson's story is really too tragic. May he rest in peace as a giant of pop. The NYT had obviously prepared an obituary/eulogy for him, but it is brilliant. I share this legally, being an NYT subscriber.

The thing that annoys me about the California Girls thing is, sure, dumb enough gag, but the song itself is gorgeously arranged with wonderful vocal harmonies...if you're listening to The Beach Boys' version. The ear destruction in AVTAK is a crappy cover.

Brian Wilson is the summit musically. He'll never be matched.

My condolences @DarthDimi. You appear to have had a wonderful and close relationship with your grandparents. If maybe hollow to state at a time of grief, but that alone is something to cherish.

Brian Wilson's death hits hard. The Beach Boys were the first band I ever heard on the radio, so it feels like they've always been part of my life. RIP.

Thank you, @MaxCasino, @Fire_and_Ice_Returns, @Benny, and @Dwayne. It gives me a warm feeling to know that this community is so supportive and kind. It's also heartwarming to read so many shared experiences with grandparents. Their experiences and wisdom play an important part in a child's development. I will always cherish the lessons they have taught me. Thanks again, friends.

Harris Yulin passed away. Great baddie, especially as Roger Stanton of the NSA in season 2 of “24”.

Damn, sorry to read your post, @DarthDimi. I lost the last of my grandparents back in 2017. My grandfather was 95, and stubborn up to the end. Even though he had moved in with one of my aunts, he didn't want to be molly coddled. I guess it's that resilient generation that lived through through WW2.

They were, indeed, strong people, weren't they, @MajorDSmythe? A generation that's had to endure a lot. I have always looked up to them.

Saveafox founder Mikayla Raines has taken her life after online harassment. A husband has lost his wife, and a little girl as lost her mum (not to mention all the foxes; Finnegan, DixieDo, Muttias and countless others she had rescued). As a follower of the channel, I am stunned and angry. People are too comfortable talking shit while hiding behind a screen. Not only the typical basement dweller, but animal rights groups responsible all now have blood on their hands.

    RIP

This is terrible. Keyboard heroes lack two things: 1) the intellectual power to do better than "I hope you to get cancer", "Woke!", and "BB should be fired!"; and 2) basic empathy. This is another sad development in the saga of the Internet. RIP.

I'm struggling to wrap my head around people being so empty inside, that they have to destroy another person.

Rewatching her videos now, the joy she felt in interacting with each of the foxes shone through brightly. How anyone could look at them and see animal abuse, is beyond me.

What can anyone possibly have against such a selfless person? I just don't get it, @MajorDSmythe, but it makes me angry that a life was taken over--what? jealousy? Irritation?

RIP Serge Fiori, genius founding father of the Québec band Harmonium.

And on our National Day as well. Very sad, borderline tragic. 73 is still young.

I honestly don't know. Since this morning, I have discovered two things; 1) animal rights groups don't like what they see as people stealing their thunder and 2) there was actually a Reddit page dedicate to a targeted harassment towards Mikayla. The page has since gone private, so the gutless cowards have crawled back into the shadows.

Of course. That's what they would do. Looks like animal rights groups, like most other "groups", have certain interests to protect.

She was a caring person, and unfortunately, people (in particular these keyboard haters) don't realize that the kindest, caring people are also the most sensitive people. She will be missed, as she truly tried to help others, in more ways than one.

Oh no, one of my all time favourite composers, only heard an old interview with him on radio on Saturday!
So many brilliant themes, Dirty Harry, Coogans Bluff, Cool Hand Luke, Joe Kidd, Bullit, Enter the Dragon, The Eagle has Landed....the list is endless!

I've known Lalo since my childhood for his TV series work... The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission: Impossible, Mannix, Petrocelli and somewhat later Starsky & Hutch. In spite of his (mostly later) great work for standalone movies, these TV themes have ingrained themselves much more in my mind since I heard them week after week. Another one of the greats gone. One day all we have left may be Hans Zimmer's computer.
