The internet is broken.i respect het for being the artist she is, but being 'something beautiful' is definitely not what she is.

Ah, to be fair it seems like she has a song entitled something beautiful that came out last Friday; makes sense why it'd dominate images now I guess.

That she may pop up here and there, ok, but it would help if the google - and other search engines' alghritms, would allow for a bit more diversification.

Well, hay fever season is upon us! Had a horrendous day of it yesterday, on bus now on the way to work, nose twitching like crazy, yep, gonna have another day of it today!!! Damn Summer!

I hate summer too. The heat is the worst.

I'm with you, mate. Summer is my least favourite season. Not just the hay fever, which I'm fortunately spared of (unlike my wife), but also the intense heat, the bugs, and people acting all kinds of crazy, more than usual. Everything's sticky, food spoils fast, I can't move an inch without dripping sweat everywhere, and my nice students suffer from volcanic eruptions of hormones. Can't wait for the Fall to be upon us again. Cool breezes, multicoloured leafs in the forest, and students frozen in a docile state of good behaviour. ;-)

I generally like summer, ideally early summer when there is still a lot of blooming shrubs and flowers, although I prefer temperatures of 20 - 25° C over those days that we here near the North Sea coast consider really hot (30° C and more... members from the U.S. midwest, the Tropics etc. stop chuckling, please). The problem this year is far too little rain, with the soil drying out in places. Except for January, each month of this year brought only a fraction of the precipitation we normally have, like not a single drop for the first three weeks of May, for our area here at least. So far we scraped by without forest fires, but we really don't need that.

That sounds eerily similar to the weather we've had here, @j_w_pepper. It seems that every year April and May are great weatherwise and then the actual summer months are either wet or a mixed bag. June has actually been quite cold here some days which is very unseasonal.

Yeah, early June was quite cold, but now it's turning into a heatwave. I started my new job wearing light jumpers and long sleeve shirts. I hope we have a suitably cool autumn this year.

I'm from the Southwest. Summer is preferred. The body is far more capable of managing heat than it is cold.

Maybe I should relocate to North Ireland. Can't stand the heat of Buckinghamshire right now.

It's variable here. Today it's sunny and humid. You never know what you're going to get. A temperate climate I believe they call it. ;)

My ancestors were Ulster Scots so maybe I'd feel a natural inclination to it. That said sunny and humid sounds awful. I can't stand the heat, wherever I am. Last time I genuinely enjoyed summer was during the holidays of my 20s, when I spent it at my parents' place. They have a swimming pool.

That's interesting. I am Ulster Scots too. It was very clammy yesterday. I see they said yesterday was the hottest day of the year in Britain so far and the heatwave is to continue. I had forgotten how oppressive the heat can be, especially with high humidity. It is very tiring.

It's on my mother's side and it dates back to the 19th century. Might be presumptuous for me to label myself of Ulster Scots origins, but my mum has a Scottish family name to prove it.
But yeah, summer sucks. Especially with this heatwave.

No, I think it's fine to label it that as it's part of your makeup. I think you are of French Canadian heritage as well if I remember correctly?

It's sunny and muggy here again today. It's one of the times where you appreciate air conditioning in shops etc. as the contrast is stark between inside and outside!

Yes, pretty much. I'm Quebecois. So French on my father's side (Normand or Auvergnat for the family name), Ulster Scott on my mother's side.

Ah, I see. That's a nice mixed lineage then. I think most of us are made up of different bits of nationalities.

Yes, and it gets more mixed for my son, as my wife is English, but her father is a South African Jew.
