I'd rather have Coogan as a villain.
Definitely depressing, why can't we see the barebones of a creatively team, and then they can take as long as they need? :-?
Because it takes longer than to set up a creative team then you think. Also, I imagine that Amazon doesn't want to repeat Lucasfilm's Star Wars mistakes, announcing things without a locked down plan. At least we have experienced producers, and the rest of the creative team will slowly follow.
I'd say he lacks those powerful characteristics to make a formidable villain. He's great though - I watched The Penguin Lessons the other day.

Apparently films made abroad are a ‘national security threat’. I think we’ll have to see if it does happen or not though, or indeed precisely what he means by it, but it seems another random idea thrown out without consultation and I can imagine the industry, not least Bezos himself, pointing out the harm this would do.
I don't think it will happen.
It's not going to happen.
Does he mean Marvel films filmed in London or an actual foreign film like Parasite?
Either way is risible, imo. I always considered cultural enrichment a positive thing, but who am I, right?
Truly foreign films are no competition for Hollywood. He's clearly referring to fake foreign films.
I dunno. He played a chilling Jimmy Saville, or so I've read. I'm not sure I can stomach the whole series, but the scenes I saw in YouTube were more powerful and scary than many horror movies.
This kind of Sh*t from a moderator?
President Trump is a negotiator and often initially kicks off a negotiation by making a bold, to some, outrageous statement or proposition. This will be no different
I find this analysis to be reasonable and without vitriol…
By everyone on his team saying it's not a negotiation, and then him changing his mind a dozen times, making the whole market uncertain and unstable... he doesn't know what he's doing and neither does anyone else.
The countries that have done well from film production do so by incentivising the industry with things like tax breaks; adding new taxation will not do that, it will only destroy.
This is bad news for the next Bond film, at the very least it's likely to set back its production while everyone tries to figure out exactly what is going on. Hopefully this notion will be quietly forgotten as it's pointed out to him how bad it would be for the industry, call it a 'pause' and then shelf it.
