I do like the more serious scenes in OP, I just wish they had toned down the wacky and cringe elements as there is a great film there.

I always loved the United Artists logo as a kid as it meant either Bond or the Pink Panther most of the time.

Gun Barrel Sir Sean is Bond... I am a huge fan of the score to DAF it really elevates the film for me.

Off the top of my head i forget which bond film was Sir Sean first appearance in the Gun Barrel scene.

Guy Hamilton certainly had a very distinct way for shooting his bond films, this is the most cinematic of his films for me mainly down to the aspect ratio.

We have yet to see Bonds face in the pre title sequence as he takes out goons, good choice IMO it builds to Sir Sean's return.

    Nice fez.

Soon as Sir Sean appears you can't help but smile, I have left it way too long a time without watching these films.

Sir Sean's hidden tattoo is more obvious in this film than previously.

That gun must be mud proof.

This is one of the Bond films that really benefited from the upscale over the years the picture looks great. there is a lot to be said for shooting in film.

I turn up the volume on my TV awesome theme kicks in 'welcome to hell Blofeld'.

This is not the best film in the series though even DAF we won't see films like this made again.

I rank DAF as Bassey's second best theme song.

This track sounds really good through my Dolby Atmos.

The crew involved in this film are some of the best in the entire series.

Bonds reflection in the class case that house the diamonds is funny, Bond is completely disinterested in what M is saying.

Sir Sean really does appear to be enjoying himself in the role certainly in comparison to YOLT.

Good morning @Fire_and_Ice_Returns, it appears that you are the only one holding down the fort! I checked in at 8:00am, didn't see anyone, and figured that we had a "rain-out." In any case, as it turned out, I wouldn't really be available until later in the afternoon.

A couple of notes thus far:

If you pause at just the right moment ...... :D
    Diamonds-Are-Forever-011.jpg

I agree about the theme song. In fact, in many ways I prefer Bassey's DAF to GF. An unpopular opinion for sure, but over the years, I've come to that conclusion.

With Jill St. John and Lana Wood in the film, a cast reunion would be somewhat awkward (if the stories are true).

Anyway, enjoy the rest of the film. I may try to chin in after 10am,

DAF is not far behind GF likely on par, I guess I rate GF higher as it is the first of its kind the one that started it all.

I am only 9 minutes into the film as been pausing a lot i can restart later?

I really won't be available to "watch-watch" until 1pm, so I would go through with you current viewing. At 10am, I watching a rare film noir that I haven't seen before.

Hey @Fire_and_Ice_Returns , I'm so sorry, I had to go out today and only home! So, I was unable to join your DAF watch. It doesn't sound like you got to watch it fully? Hopefully, we can all link up again soon for a Bond watch 🤞

Ugh….I should have stayed with @Fire_and_Ice_Returns and DAF, as “A Lady Without Passport” (1950) was disappointing. The film, despite starring Hedy Lamarr and George Macready (with direction by Joseph Lewis – a famed director for doing more with less), turned out to be a classic case of something being less than the sum of its parts. Only the score (David Raksin) and cinematography held up.

One thing did occur to me while watching it, however. The budget for "A Lady Without Passport" was about $1 million, or about the same amount as Dr. No 12 years later. Which only makes one appreciate just how well made those early Bond films were given their budgets.

No worries guys the rain stopped here so I ended up going for a walk and buying some music, it was good to get a bit of sunshine whilst it was there lol

@Dwayne I often think when a production team has too much money to spend they can get lazy, most of the great classics over the years were because of a tight budget and having to use ingenuity.

Bond was very lucky to have Ken Adam with DN, Ken's incredible sets always looked expensive.

Lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon, so time for Bond!
    SPECTRE (2015)
Gunbarrel is back where it belongs. Craig isn't walking as fast, but not keen on the swinging arms! Looks good though!
