Outstanding, mtm - seriously great. I remember EON posting the clapperboard shots of this part of the shoot, including the house being blown up, and I thought that was a pretty good glimpse of the production - but to have actually gone there and walked around the common while they were there must've given you a great insight into that they were doing. Brilliant, mate. And yes, from watching the film you'd never guess the scale of the crew needed to get the M/Tanner bridge scene. Fantastic stuff - thanks again for posting these, mtm.

Yes, it does kind of reveal how big these movies are that for a relatively short scene inside a car they took over an entire length of road in central London and filled it full of their own cars etc. - makes you realise how these movies cost so much!

I still have one more upload of SF images to share. So we'll move onto Spectre tomorrow.

We move now onto the fourth James Bond film to star Daniel Craig.
The 24th film in the EON series.

Unless I'm overlooking something obvious, I always did enjoy the BTS clapperboard shot of Hinx but I don't believe it made it to the final film.

Not like it would've helped the film in my estimations and ranking, of course, but it does look nice.

    Brothers in arms.
  • Craig and Waltz actually look like they could be brothers. So it was good casting in that respect. But man, how awful that this brother is actually Blofeld. What were they thinking ????

    They aren’t literal brothers.

The fact that there's even confusion over whether they are or not shows it was a horrible inclusion in the script and the respective film.

As bad as the idea is (and I think it's really bad), I don't see how there's any confusion. Calling them adoptive brothers is already a stretch considering Bond only spent a few months with Oberhauser at his place. Again, this is a terrible idea, but the movie never makes it seem like they are blood related.

I mean, someone just labeled them brothers twice in one comment. That's not a knock on them, just goes to show that if it's confused some here, there are no doubt some general viewers out there who also believe they were brothers. Bad move regardless and I wish they never would've had a personal connection like that or gone with that horribly telegraphed twist.

Oh yes, definitely. Maybe they thought at the time that it was a brillant throwback to Maibaum's original crazy ideas regarding Blofeld being Goldfinger's brother, or Goldfinger being named Mr. Diamond. In a way, if Spectre was indeed developed as a hommage to the 60s Bond films, just reimagined through the lens of modern Bond movies, it could very well have been part of their thinking.

The idea itself could’ve been a subconscious reference to Austin Powers too funnily enough.

I remember being so enthralled and excited by the BTS for that helicopter sequence and then being so disappointed by the end of it in the theater. Will never forget @marketto007 posting Instagram videos of the stunts.

Yeah I remember seeing a video of the two of them fighting on the skid, and the fight went on for a long time and looked genuinely perilous, and was really well-executed. It still looks good in the film, but I would have quite liked a longer take of the two of them fighting, it was great.

I love that helicopter sequence, think ir was really well put together!
There's one shot there. it looks like the chopper is getting. a piggyback from one of the skeleton puppets! 😄

One of SP's issues is that the teaser trailer was quite good so that the actual film didn't measure up. And it had the expectations of following SF.

That’s what happens with a lot of trailers and sequels. In the film’s defense.

Fair enough. My argument is still for the BTS stuff I saw before the movie (I didn't quite like the trailers/got red flags from them/already knew too much spoilers).

I really wish this car chase had more kinetic energy besides two cars on abandoned roads in Rome. It is a shame as it has some beautiful stunt work.

I have read this criticism a lot and I personally don't really understand it. Yes, the streets are empty, but besides that, it's a beautiful shot and exciting car chase in my book. Looks like I'm more or less alone in that, though. ;-)

SP, by design or not, is a "quiet" film. We are often in desolate, empty places, with seemingly only a handful of people on the planet. Empty buildings, train cars, London streets, Rome, hotels, mountain clinics ... the world looks dead, "spectral", a bare skull. Somehow that befits the film. And since I gravitate towards such an introverted atmosphere, SP is one of the better Bonds for me. ;-)
