Man, the GF haters are out and about today :(

Oh please. All there is is Goldfinger and locations. Up against one of the best Bonds, Bond girls, Bond locations, the king of Bond themes, and one of the greatest Bond villains that saves his film. Gimme a break.

I don't understand where you are going with or what you mean by this comment. Gert Fröbe is one of the great Bond villains and shouldn't be ranked below a location. How someone can justify a location over a fantastically underrated actor as Fröbe is beyond my comprehension.

Number 1, Gert was only in GF physically, so the voice/dialogue doesn't count towards him, and number 2, when the location is Venice, it definitely outranks Gert/Goldfinger.
  • Number one, Gert still had to say the words and do the facials, which were perfect. Number two, your comment for that is beyond my comprehension.

I love Italy. Sue me. Goldfinger had a few good lines but is outranked by many of the other villains, especially in Connery's era where he is seriously outranked.

Good to see this final contest of the entire thing's generating some debate - it's an intriguing one, methinks, ne-c'est pas? :)

    Anyhoo, here's the latest results...

    <font size=3>Event 27: 4 x 007 Relay / Second Leg ~ Results</font>

    1. 22px-Flag_of_Wales.png Timothy Dalton = 123 points
    2. 22px-Flag_of_England.svg.png Christopher Lee = 90 points
    3. 22px-Flag_of_the_United_States.svg.png Maurice Binder = 82 points
    4. 22px-Flag_of_France.svg.png Claudine Auger = 70 points
    = 22px-Flag_of_Germany.svg.png Gert Fröbe = 70 points
    6. 22px-Flag_of_Italy.svg.png Venice (CR) = 54 points
    7. 22px-Flag_of_Canada.svg.png Mount Asgard (TSWLM) = 45 points
    8. 22px-Flag_of_Switzerland.png Andermatt, Furka Pass and Rhone Glacier (GF) = 26 points

    <font size=3>Standings:</font>

    1. 22px-Flag_of_England.svg.png England = 184 points
    2. 22px-Flag_of_Wales.png Wales = 161 points
    3. 22px-Flag_of_the_United_States.svg.png United States = 133 points
    4. 22px-Flag_of_Canada.svg.png Canada = 130 points
    5. 22px-Flag_of_France.svg.png France = 109 points
    6. 22px-Flag_of_Germany.svg.png Germany = 98 points
    7. 22px-Flag_of_Italy.svg.png Italy = 89 points
    8. 22px-Flag_of_Switzerland.png Switzerland = 56 points

So, unsurprisingly, Timbo takes this 'second leg' of the contest with a convincing win (he did actually play James Bond, after all), but maybe surprisingly Chris Lee and Claudine Auger come in in second and fourth place, respectively, ensuring Maurice Binder and Gert Fröbe can only boast respective third and fifth-placed finishes. The locations, more predictably, take up the bottom three places.

As for what that's done for the contest's overall standings, well, thanks to Dalton's efforts, Wales have shot up to a healthy second place, as England consolidate their lead. The two North American nations sit happily - and threateningly - in third and fourth, while the trio of Central European powers are battling it out in fifth, sixth and seventh at present, while the Swiss are already looking dangerously like they're getting left behind.

Only halfway through, though - indeed, the third leg's coming right up, folks...! :)

    And here it is, guys....

    the_2012_james_bond_007_olympics-16.jpg

Yes, as the Olympics traditionally comes to a close with one of its 'blue ribband' events the 4x100m Relay and/ or the 4x400m Relay, we're closing ours with the 4x007 Relay. But what's that, I hear you all ask...?

Well, it features the top eight nations in the Medal Table (which is why I've been banging on recently about why it's so important for those in the running to finish in eighth place or better for this event ;) ), each of which will compete against the other as teams of four competitors. These four competitors will be those who have performed the best for their respective nations - that is, those who've either won medals or the 'best colour' medal or whose (if many have won a gold medal) have accrued the highest percentage of total number of votes possible in their individual contests.

Then, as in a real relay race, one competitor from each nation will compete against a competitor from each other nation in a 'leg of the race', before 'passing the baton' on to the next competitor in their team who does the same, and the next does the same and the next does the same. All of which means there'll be four legs in total, after the last of which the result of the contest will be known.

It may well sound a little complicated, but don't worry, in practice it'll be simple as pie. Honest... ;)

    <i>The competitors:</i>

    22px-Flag_of_England.svg.png Ted Moore
    22px-Flag_of_the_United_States.svg.png Richard Maibaum
    22px-Flag_of_Italy.svg.png Cortina d'Ampezzo (FYEO)
    22px-Flag_of_France.svg.png Carole Bouquet
    22px-Flag_of_Canada.svg.png Joseph Wiseman
    22px-Flag_of_Germany.svg.png Willy Bogner
    22px-Flag_of_Wales.svg.png Desmond Llewelyn
    22px-Flag_of_Switzerland.svg.png Ursula Andress

So, the task is simple... please arrange the eight competitors above into your favoured ordering - first to last (greatest to least) in terms of their <i>contribution to the cinematic James Bond</i>.

Note: Voting for this first leg of the event should remain open for <i>about 24 hours</i>.

Oh, and just a reminder - when you do vote, please vote in this manner, chaps (as outlined in the thread's opening post); makes it a hell of a lot easier for me when I'm totting up the totals... ;)

    1st place (<font color=DarkOrange>Gold</font>) = 10 points
    2nd place (<font color=Gray>Silver</font>) = 8 points
    3rd place (<font color=SaddleBrown>Bronze</font>) = 7 points
    4th place = 5 points
    5th place = 4 points
    6th place = 3 points
    7th place = 2 points
    8th place = 1 points

Over to you, folks - get voting...! :)
