I would like to see Pierce return as Bond like Tom Cruise did in Maverick.
rather than Craig in his prime portraying an aging Bond.

    Lol this.
  • It's weird that Craig played an aging Bond in his third movie.

    YES!!!
Pierce and Tim are my top two choices to replace Craig.
There'll probably only be one film within the next 12 years anyway so why not make this easier and just recast Brosnan (or Dalton)?
It'd be refreshing to have a much older Bond rather than Craig in his prime portraying an aging Bond.

    Big Yes for Dalton!
Definite NO! for the other fella!

Yes and yes. Please don’t have John Glen direct Dalton’s film or have MGW or Purvis and Wade write either one. They both deserve it. If Harrison Ford can keep bringing back his iconic character these two deserve another chance to shine.

I love how people here are always fighting each other defending their favorite Bonds like they were their lawyers or something. =))
I honestly don't have a favorite Bond, i appreciate all of them equally, as each one of them were perfect for their respective times.

Good observation. I just question the people they have helping them, especially when they repeat themselves.

Indeed. I love all the Bonds equally. If I were to state a preference I like to say Connery and Moore are tied for first and the others are tied for second place. That includes Niven and Nelson. That way no one gets ranked last. They all brought Fleming's creaton to life, IMO.

You know, a stand-alone film with a Bond that is "near retirement" could actually work.

That's what i was thinking, a trilogy about a veteran Bond would be great imo.
And yes, i know SKYFALL exists, but...

I think EON might not show us an aging Bond for a long time, because it was really used in Craig's era. Bond 7 would likely be older as he nears the completion of his era, but I'm not sure EON would stress it like they did with Craig's Bond, because they did it too much.

Every time I try to think of a personal angle they already used it with Craig. The reinvention will be difficult if it’s not back to basics, but it would also be boring to regress.

It's more likely to the direction they're going for, for example, Insomniac's Spider-Man managed to reinvent, and at the same time, mantain the original essence of the Spider-Man Universe.

Great example and game. Highly recommended for everyone to play.

I wonder if we could ever get Benzedrine Bond with his drug problems in a PG-13 package, they haven't ever explored that (though he's quite the self-medicator in CR, QOS, and SF, I think intentionally).

It would be cool if they committed to the new Bond having The Scar, and the first movie has a plot where Bond is ultimately found out because of it. Then for movie 2 just say he had cosmetic surgery to solve the problem going forward, and so your actor looks prettier. Or he gets the scar in movie 1, it's used against him in movie 2, and it's gone by movie 3.

I once dreamt up a Bond-reinvention plot based on the book cannon of YOLT where James Bond is already dead, but for some reason MI6 had a mission that requires Bond's DNA validation, so they go recruit his estranged son, Jimmy Suzuki, from Bond's affair with Kissy. The movie ends with Jimmy accomplishing the mission and finally accepting who his father was, and calls himself Bond, James Bond. But this way you get some diversity with the actor as well, in an organic Fleming way. In theory they could do this with the daughter from NTTD, they already set up the DNA stuff.

He really does look fantastic there.
  • I’d like to see Pierce or Timothy return for a one off Bond film, the odds of that happening seem extremely low however.

Indeed. A couple of years back, Craig told GQ 'I know we can’t have him having amphetamine and speed and doing all these things. But inside, I know I’m doing that'!

After reading the last few posts, I'm in for a completely CGI Connery as Bond.

The drug use is explicit in SF, and Silva even calls it out. Not sure what the modern equivalent of Benzedrine would be--probably some sort of energy drink!

Genius to think of the scar idea. I was surprised they didn't use it in CR, honestly.

I am looking forward to a stripped-down Bond in Bond 26. At least, no Vesper (and no Tracy), no everything tied together, no Madeleine, no daughter...please, please, they need to give this all a *rest.*

I’d be happier if they gave him the scar but never talked about it. That was one of the stupider things about Last Crusade, when they felt they needed to explain every little physical detail of Indy.

    Here are some free ideas:

    A Bond woman from Interpol.
A henchman who uses a mechanical-assist suit to enhance their strength.
A good-natured villain that goes too far, perhaps regarding climate change.
Bond leading an army finale again.
    Q. in the field a lot more - he's a pilot now? It would be lazy to kill him, so don't.
No Felix Leiter until movie 2. Bond should be established on his own first.
Felix Leiter movie introduction should require US as a setting.
No major action sets in London.
Tanner is a bad guy - maybe a multi-film arc.
Moneypenny is a smart, resourceful, intuitive aide-de-camp for M., sits in on meetings, delivers intel reports and insights. She should be written like Miranda Frost's early office scenes, or TND/TWINE Samantha Bond scripting.
No DB5, anywhere, for like two movies at least.
Bond needs to be resourceful, bring back the grapple watch or belt, cell phone tricks, handheld emp emitters, smoke grenade pen, i don't care, figure it out.
Cool modern Walther. Minimal machine gun fire from Bond.
Let's see Bond infiltrate a facility in way that teaches the audiences 10 different ways to silently kill a guy, you know?

I want to see a NEW MODERN BOND. Modern car. Modern gun. Modern clothes. When he's not in a suit, he should be kitted the hell out with cool stuff. Give me at least one sequence with Splinter Cell Bond.

Decent ideas. Some of these ideas are in Double or Nothing.

Whatever happens with Bond 26, we need a henchwoman or female villain. The fact that the Craig-era never had its own Fiona Volpe or Xenia Onatopp was a crime in my opinion.
  • Vesper was grey, but you are right.

Yeah, Vesper was never a true villain, she was blackmailed after all.

The early drafts of SP had a female villain - a CIA operative who Felix had sent undercover with Bond as a married couple, but who turned out to be a Spectre double agent. Irma Bunt was in the early SP drafts too!

Yeah, I remember, Charlotte King if I remember right. What a missed opportunity.

I think the morality behind the assassinations haven’t been explored since Dalton and Pushkin, and the very beginning of CR. I love TLD in that regard, Dalton’s bond is a class act in judgement. The new bond having taken to his profession might be questioning his own methods and happy trigger finger. He might fall in love with the woman baddy and try to turn her to the good side? Maybe for the first time his infatuation goes unanswered.

Would also be funny if he was a bit old school and couldn’t get his gadgets to work at the right time.

    They were probably foster sisters.
