No more delays. The film has already been delayed five times. Also, by September there will be enough vaccines for everyone in pretty much all developed countries.

I'm not trying to be bullish, but at this point, I just can't see another delay.

I really want to share your optimism. And I did, until Green Knight and The Duke were delayed this week and now this statistic of France’s negative test requirement decreasing box office sales by 70%.

So is the entire Jenga tower about to collapse? The Duke was due to open three weeks before No Time To Die: should we expect Bond to beat a fourth retreat, chasing the ideal international commercial conditions that only slip further into the distance with every postponement?

Since the last Bond delay in January, the series’ parent studio MGM has been bought by Amazon, so the machinery is now in place for a streaming release on Prime Video should those in power be inclined. Yet franchise honchos Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson very much aren’t: on the day the sale was announced, they even put out a statement stressing their commitment “to continuing to make James Bond films for the worldwide theatrical audience.”

Problem is, asking said audience to wait a further six months would entail another expensive global advertising campaign and cause more misery for cinemas. Perhaps worst of all, it would smack of haplessness: if the Fast & Furious crew and the Suicide Squad can rise above the pandemic, why not MI6’s finest?

    Thanks man.

My optimism and excitement have faded in recent days. The film might still be released, but all the planned hoopla (including the huge premiere in Los Angeles) will likely be canceled. :-(

I was hoping Dan would go out with a bang. It appears like it might instead be a quiet exit out the back door.

Unfortunately I'm growing more skeptical it will be released at any point in the next few years if there are rolling lockdowns and required test results to enter cinemas, given how that has torpedoed ticket sales in France. It's a sick Catch 22 really. The producers are insisting on only releasing it when they can have huge simultaneous theatrical debuts worldwide. Nothing is stopping that from happening in the U.S., but the rest of the world is a different story. Covid will be with us forever, there will always be people who cannot or will not get vaccinated, making this kind of large event difficult to do, so they will just keep holding out, and who knows when we will see this film.

They've made it clear they will only release it when it can debut worldwide in theaters, no exceptions, which seems nearly impossible at any point in the near future.

It will be a very pathetic look for Eon if they bail yet again after Fast & Furious and a few other big movies are still proceeding with release.

I, uh, think assuming it'll be "a few years" until it's released is perhaps a bit too pessimistic.

He was asked for how long the movie is finished. He said that they finished around March and that they did some final synchronisation after the first delay „because it was not finished“ (??) and that he hasn’t seen the whole movie so far. He doesn‘t know how the film ends and he is not allowed to tell.

Yeah. But optimism is the only grip we can hold on to at the moment. To be honest, my major worry during the multiple delays wasn't necessarily about me not seeing the film, but was if the film's plot would be intact. And so far, with all the deciphering that has been going on by fans, to my surprise, the plot is still a ghost...which is a good thing. So it would be a very good thing if the film comes out in October.

Agreed. There is still so much we have no idea about…

    Forget a new trailer.

The filmmakers should put together an exciting but droll 2-minute Bond film short, all new, unconnected to the NTTD storyline.

It's not like they haven't had time.

Well that would be different but just as good and effective, @marketto007.

    So they should do both.

I'd cut the recap differently, but this would certainly be good especially if they focus on it being Craig's last film for the marketing. I'm surprised it seems to have only been produced for the Far East market.

I think you only have to show evidence that you have had the two jabs, you don't need to have a PCR test every time you go to the cinema. But as 50% of the French population, from the stats I have just looked up, hasn't had both jabs yet I can imagine that would dampen cinema attendance.

The movie itself was finished, but the dubbing work was not finished when the first lickdown happened. So they had to do some more work on it in August/September 2020, I think.

It will also be interesting to see if they update the Aston Martin to the current model using CG, as I mentioned above.

Love those big "Bond is Back" lettering, and ending it with the pseudo gun barrel. Can't wait!

I think this alleviates our concerns about another delay after the green knight and the duke. Would you agree?

Something the MI6HQ guys talked about on a number of podcasts is how ahead of the Nov to April delay there wasn't any ad spend kicking in, the only thing was the spot timed with Craig's Fallon appearance after the April ...and obviously there was nothing before April to October..now gears are clearly turning.

    Excited already!

    Interesting new style, too.

Also believe this may be a new angle:

I’ve been trying to look at the timing of when the delays were announced vs. the release dates. This week will put us at 2 months from release. The March-November delay was only 1 month before release but that was when everything shut down. The November-April delay was announced in early October, just under 2 months prior to release and they’d already spent money on a second trailer and we’re marketing it again. Then the delay to October 2021 came in January.

Obviously each delay was different and it’s hard to establish a pattern gut tells me if no delay is announced by mid-august then they’re going full steam ahead unless there’s a last minute shutdown of cinemas in Europe.

Of course, they could decide that just not enough people are going to the theaters and delay it again anyways but that seems less likely. Fast 9 and Black Widow showed that there is still a lot of demand for movie theaters although black widow seemed to have been hurt by the simultaneous streaming release.

After SP, Daniel Kleinman might have outdone himself this time around. I can't wait to see the visuals.

Or people are getting tired of the overexposed MCU, not too mention a boring character as the lead.

Could NTTD homage GF, OHMSS & SP with clips from previous movies? I think it’s possible.
