Well, it is recognisable on the satellite image. But IMO definitely no reason to rewatch TWINE. Nor is anything else.

To each his own. It's my no. 23 of 24. Only DAD is worse.

    Nope. Twine is the worst.

Have to say the sight of the DB5 in the NTTD trailer does not excite me.

The reappearance of the DB5 in SF was actually a wonderful surprise, and I remember the audience being elated about it, with actual applause during the movie. It doesn't make sense at all, but it is just a good-natured shot of nostalgia that was inserted to please the fans. I have mixed feelings of regularly including the car as a standard staple of modern-day Bond movies, however. On the other hand, having a mid-level public servant drive the latest-model Aston Martin prototypes isn't realistic either. Might as well be a 55+ year old vehicle.

A bit tired of it appearing every 30 seconds. I want to see the next Bond get his own brand to work with...

    Moore had the Lotus
    Brosnan had BMW

Next guy should drive something other than an Aston Martin.

I love the DB5 and i love Aston Martin's being associated with James Bond.

But as soon as i saw the DB5 with machine guns in the NTTD trailer my heart sunk. It's been done to death. It's regressive. The Aston chase in QoS was awesome, because it was Bond using his wits and skill (and a hefty machine gun) to get out of trouble. The car gadgets were old hat to Craig's Bond....or so i thought.

I personally love the DB5 unless its from Corgi again! :)) However? When the new era begins with a new actor? Let's have some new and varied cars for Bond to play with. :-bd

I'm sick to death of the DB5 now. It's been overdone to the max, as much as I love the car.

I'm all for the Aston from TLD, which is a nice surprise for NTTD. What would be even nicer is the 1969 Aston from OHMSS. Now THAT car I would like to see return for a few movies.

DB5 should only come once in every Era if they want it to create an impact imo.

I think it’s nice he has his signature car. It’s also lovely to see the V8, even if this film does seem a bit car-heavy.

We never had a proper DB5 chase since GF. 56 years. Every Bond fan should be beyond excited about that.

YES. Always glad to see the DB5. Bond and the DB5 are inseparable.

Yeah definitely: it'll be great to see it actually fully in action for the first time- it barely got to do much in Goldfinger, even.

I love that car more than most people here and don't care if it comes back forever.

  • At first I didn't like the DB5 coming back (again), but now I'm okay with it. I wish it was a little less present (something like it being more a cameo every few films), but I agree, it's such a signature car for Bond. As long as it's not shoved in there for the sake of doing it.
  • Initially I was happy with the DB5 returning, but after the reintroduction of the V8 in NTTD, I kind of wish they had done that from the get-go. I understand the what the iconography of the DB5 means to the franchise, however, there's something about the muscle car aesthetic of the V8 that is so perfectly suited to Craig's Bond, while still paying tribute to what came before (especially as Craig's Bond owes a lot to Dalton's take on the character, which I think was a little ahead of its time). Every time I see the image of Craig stepping out of the V8 I get shades of Steve McQueen and his '68 Mustang Fastback.

It does suit him very well it’s true, but then there’s something about driving an old very classy classic DB5 that does too: its a very London rich man about town thing to do.

One does wonder how many old classic Astons he has stashed in lockups around the city though! Good retirement plan :)

    The V8 definitely suits Craig.
Nice nod of respect to TLD as well.
Do we know what CJF's first Bond film was? Could he be a Dalton fan?

I think CJF said his first Bond film was A View to a Kill.

I do love seeing the DB5, but it has appeared quite a lot recently. Very happy to see it go out in style (hopefully!)

    A View To A Kill.

    His favourite is Casino Royale.

I'm happy to see DB5 again in "No Time to Die". I'm counting for an old fashioned car chase with some (as realistic as possible) gadgets.
I'm also glad to see V8 in NTTD (it's my second best Bond car).

But to be honest i'm not a fan of overusing DB5. Just because I like something doesn't mean I want it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Let the DB5 go out in a blaze of glory in NTTD and then let's move on. Bring in a model or Corgi toy and leave it on Q or Bond's desk or in his apartment and leave it at that.

I kind of liked having a new car each film and discovering what's going to go with it if we go that route. To keep handing the DB5 down to a new Bond actor is almost like and admission of the dreaded code-name theory.
