Wasn't the model for Bond Dick Orme?

Had to google that name as I hadn't heard it before. It looks like you're right!

I had a LALD early edition with him on the cover. I think I still have it somewhere.

    This one?

Don't think I've seen this one before! Love the illustration.

My copy was pretty battered when I got it. I must have been 10 years old.

Still cool to own though! I have an old Norwegian edition of LALD myself, but they released all the books as a series with the same cover (with the title on the spine). Here's how they look like:

    Gullbok.jpg

I have FRWL from that series.

Wouldn't mind owning a few more of these - FRWL included!

They're quite nice these books. I love the gold colour and the illustration with the three guns.

They do have a nice look. What is that in the top left corner, though? A car with blazing headlights?

Of all the Norwegian editions, my favourites are the ones from Dreyer in the 60s.

I've never quite figured it out. A car is a good guess!

Really like the Dreyer covers too. My favourites of those are probably these:

    youonly2.jpg
    drage.jpg
    diamonds-dreyer-1966-140.jpg
    drno64.jpg

I have the later DN, along with MR, DAF and OHMSS from that series. I used to have GF and LALD as well. No idea where they went to. Got myself other editions of those.

Interesting! I think I've seen a few of these books pop up on auction sites on a few occasions. A bit too pricey for paperbacks, though.

I got mine from a second hand shop in Oslo. Fair price, too.

Never had any luck with second hand shops myself (particularly with books like these). Maybe next time.

    Fantastic find.

I think it's interesting to compare the reference photos to the final artwork, so you see where they're similar and where they differ – and to get a bit of insight into how Sam Peffer approached the task of making these covers.

There's a lot of great content on the Illustrated 007 website, by the way!

Such a waste of acting talent. Ola Rapace is a really good actor and should have had more scenes, IMO.

    Cool photos though!

The best thing about Twitter is when this kind of content pops up in your feed! George Lazenby's Twitter account retweeted this tweet. I wonder if he manages it himself?

I think it's his best Bond poster yet! Love all the details he's managed to include, and the colour palette.

The makers of NTTD need to commission a special poster from him!

That would be fantastic. An illustrated variant poster would no doubt be a popular item!

So agree! Love Patrice, wish there was more of him in Skyfall for sure.

Those photos are great. 007 watermark; are they from 007.com Patrice focus of the week?

Looks great, but I feel Odd Job should be a bit more prominent. He may be the most memorable image (along with Golden Girl) from the film. Laser Table as well, perhaps.

That's a good point actually. But I think this one (and the two others; DN and FRWL) were commissions, and that might had an impact how prominent certain elements are.

Oh they’re superb; amazing to finally see that Bond’s real face!

Or a line at least! :) I don’t think he gets to say anything at all, does he?

I had not noticed either, even though I've seen the cover artwork several times before!

No, not as far as I remember. It's funny, because he's a charismatic guy; maybe they thought he'd be too memorable with dialogue? :-D
