Slumdog Millionaire, which I do really like.

That's one of those films it seems like "everyone's" watched but me. Will have to watch it eventually.

    (Sorry for going off topic)

Boyle's new film 'Yesterday' has been released this week. It was the film he was making (in post production) during his pre-production work on Bond 25. Yesterday has a 60 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm guessing his Bond 25 would have got a higher score.

Well Boyle’s film made it far enough sets were built and then tore down.

Rami still in London was psoting with Spike Lee from the baseball game today. Looks like more shooting with Rami and Daniel on set this week is likely

I was thinking that. Where's the baseball being played?

Regarding Boyle I find it slightly unbelievable that someone wouldn't enjoy any of his films. They're all so different in terms of subject matter and genres. He's done romcoms, psychological thrillers, sci-fi, biopic, social commentrary and zombie movies.

If you seriously can't find anything you like in his entire catalogue then I just think thats a bit odd.

In terms of Boyle and Bond I think I would have preferred a Boyle Bond film to a Mendes Bond film. Overall I definitely prefer Boyles back catalogue to that of Mendes. Much more enjoyable and rewatchable.

Just saw the behind the scene footage. Very nice. And I know I had reservations about Lashana Lynch as a Bond girl, but this really calmed them. Not sure why. I have seen prettier women and she's still not as attractive as Lupita (their first choice?), but she seems full of sensuality.
Agreed. Her character looks pretty cool and seductive.

Yes, very self assured and openly sexual.

    Probably because she's playing him.

At that point, I venture he doesn't know she's
Mi6. Let alone 007, if rumours are true.

That'll give us some nice dynamics. The predator being the prey for once.

These rumours are nothing but wild speculation.

Let's hope so. Personally I'm not too crazy about them.

I.e. maybe it would tie up some loose ends and sort of compensate for some of the flaws in the last film if it turned out she’d been playing him throughout SP. Definitely more interesting than another Bond girl death maybe!

    Yes, considerably ;)

    PS: Welcome, btw.

Thanks! Love the thread, have been checking it over the last couple of months and only just got the courage to get involved- “not much more than a voyeur, are you? Too scared to join in?” Ace. When Boyle left I thought the world had ended, I watched some of Fukunaga’s work and have full faith in his vision, especially after the teaser. Really think it is going to be great.

Never been a Boyle fan. Can't seem to like any of his films. For me, they're overgrown over rated MTV videoclips with political and social agendas. But I am a Fukunaga fan. The guy has vision, and it's starting to show. Good to have you around, @Yes_Considerably. Hope you have fun. The forums can be a Le Cercle or a battlefield, depending on the day ;)

Harsh verdict on Boyle. I agree he's slightly overrated but he's not as bad as you suggest. Quite a solid story teller and manages to do it with energy and wit which is quite unusual these days.

Agreed. I'm glad we got Fukunaga instead because I think he's more suited to Bond and I don't think Boyle would have been the best choice for a Bond movie - but he's a great storyteller and at the end of the day I would have been happy if we got him anyway.

I think Fukunaga will deliver but I'm still disappointed we lost Boyle. Not just because he's brilliant (but he is, and so is John Hodge, and even if it wasn't quite what EON/DC were looking for in the end, I refuse to believe that a Bond film from the writer and director of Shallow Grave and Trainspotting and T2 wouldn't have been great), but because he was a much more edgy and British choice imo. I would have loved to see a working class Manc's take on James Bond. Fukunaga I think based off what I've seen is closer to Mendes. A bit glossier, more Hollywood, and he's someone who I think would have been snapped up to do a big blockbuster franchise eventually anyway, while Boyle has made a career out of shunning that and seemed to be doing Bond solely because it was Bond.

Like @Getafix said, it's hard to pin Boyle down because of the sheer variety he's shown through his career, but I really do think we would have got something a lot more pacey and down and dirty with him, and I do think Hodge's screenplay would have been more groundbreaking than Purvis and Wade's latest (I know Waller Bridge is polishing it but it's their story isn't it).

I'm still excited for Bond 25 and I really do think that DC's commitment to going out on a high will make it something special, but Boyle leaving will always be one of the biggest what ifs for me.

Plethora of new photos courtesy of the Daily Mail....Craig is looking v grey. Plus, they are using drone technology. Seems an unusual move for CJF.

Love that they're using a drone. Can get some great and unique shoots, the likes of which a regular camera set up simply cant capture.
London...Bond...and a classic V8 Aston Martin. What's not too like.

These things are mightily impressive. The days of building a crane for a high angle shot are gone, as are the days of spending a few thousand on helicopter rentals.

Okay, mostly ;) And certainly for more modestly budgeted films.

Maybe we'll get another impressive aerially-shot action sequence like 'that' fight sequence at the Kobe docks in YOLT?!! I hope so!

If I'm not mistaken the suit/tie choice isn't a million miles from YOLT either!

Interesting Craig already looks fairly beat up!

They probably used the helicopter due to the speed the cars were driving at, as well as other factors, like wind etc. I can imagine sudden heavy wind could make using drones a bit difficult.

Of course helicopters, and cranes and dollies etc. will still be used, but drones will more and more be utilized for their unparalleled versatility and relatively low cost... yes drone operators are paid handsomely 😏
