Fan Film Rules

Does anybody know what the rules are regarding making your own fan-made James Bond film? I can't find answers anywhere. Can you make a feature length? or can it only be a short? are you allowed to use Bond iconography/characters?

  • I don't think there are rules per se, you can't use licensed soundtracks or else the video will get claimed for copyright (on Youtube). Otherwise you can make any fan film, any length with Fleming's characters.

Well, EON is very strict with certain iconography and trademarks. However, there are loads of fan films on YouTube that use said iconography. So I think you can get away with a lot (even music) if you don't make any money off the film.

If you intend to sell the film, or put ads on the YouTube version, you might stay away from the following:
    • Any music used in the Bond films (directly lifted from the soundtracks)
    • The Bond Theme itself (the notes themselves are copyrighted by Danjaq)
    • The Gun Barrel (trademarked)
    • The 007 logo as used on the Bond films
  • Thankyou
