    EmpireOnline's article on this:
Bond 23 Gets UK Release Date
Make sure October 26, 2012 is free

We all knew that 007's new outing would be hitting cinema screens in late 2012. But Sony have today confirmed that Bond 23 - the intriguing working title for, erm, Bond 23 - will be released on October 26 of next year, and not November, the traditional slot for Bond.

It's good to see that Daniel Craig's Bond is keeping the British end up - we'll see the Sam Mendes-directed action flick two weeks ahead of our cousins in the States. The movie opens there on November 9. No word yet on how Felix Leiter has taken the news, but we reckon he'll be steaming.

Oh, and we sincerely hope that Bond 23 is the actual title of the film. How ballsy would that be?

Usually we get Bond films here the same time with the UK. Hopefully that's the case with Bond 23 too.

October's nice and early for a Bond release.
  • Hmmm...in this age of piracy I always doubt stories saying that a film will open 2 weeks apart in different markets. Having said that, it does still happen...

So much for the "worldwide" release date but hey, I'm happy! Great to see a release date this early, should mean the 2-year window is kept for the next film at least, hopefully more.

    Here's the press release:

MGM and SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE UK RELEASE DATE FOR BOND 23

LONDON, June 2, 2011 – MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment are delighted to announce the UK release date for the eagerly anticipated 23rd James Bond adventure will be Friday, 26TH OCTOBER, 2012 opening at the Odeon Leicester Square and in cinemas across the UK and Ireland.

The film will open in the United States on November 9, 2012.

BOND 23 will see Daniel Craig continue his role as James Bond in the iconic movie franchise, with British director Sam Mendes at the helm of the as-yet untitled 23rd James Bond adventure. The film will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

The last two films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, had record-high grosses for the Bond franchise, with Casino Royale taking in $599 million in worldwide ticket sales and Quantum of Solace generating $577 million.

As it should be, we have to wait for some big tent pole releases like Dark Knight and no doubt DKR next summer so it's only right we get this first!

The more I think about this, the more I reckon it's not ture. Afterall this isn't on MI6 yet and no really reliable website has reported it. Also this "press release" seems very odd using words such as "delighted to announce" and getting the figures for Quantum Of Solace wrong, they're $586 million not $577 million. It doesn't really matter though as it was only a 2 week difference from our confirmed release date.

Hopefully @JamesPage can give his view.

Well it has been highlighted on the MI6 front page now, but words such as 'reportedly' and 'if' have been added. ;-)

I do not understand this discussion. On the mgm homepage you can find under news this pressrelease. So people who can read are at advantage!

There it is! So I guess it is true...

I still question the plank who came up with the press release though! ;-)

Perhaps it has to do with a movie about a Hobbit that could cut into profits of Bond 23.

That's released in December though, Bond still would have all of November to himself.

Counting the days, the hours, the minutes. Glad to see official confirmation that David Arnold is scoring. Let's hope he's title song writing too.

This is super news for all us fans in the UK. After being told of a November release earlier in the year and to now be told it'll be a couple of weeks earlier in October makes the anticipation even greater.

And that is perhaps the point of the exercise.

Bond would have always had November though, that's the normal release date. EON must think an extra two weeks are really needed then, hence the late October release.

Twilight 4 gets released one week after Bond 23's original November premiere, so maybe 2 weeks earlier is a good call.

We don't need two threads on the same subject, folks, so I'm closing this one. Please continue the discussion in the 'official' thread, thanks...
