If George Lazenby had returned

I know that a lot of people dislike Lazenby because of his "wooden acting". Hes no Connery or Craig, but I honestly kind of like him and wish that he had returned (OHMSS is my 4th favorite film) So what do you guys think would have happened to the series if he had retuned in Diamonds are forever and maybe in the next few films.

I would think the series would hit an all time low in popularity since OHMSS had a considerable dip in box office than YOLT.
