On the other hand, you can say that you have a copy of the original printing in your collection. Just like with the first print run of Silverfin, which had the wrong dated given for Blood Fever.

Maybe I'm a little precious but I simply can't read on when this happens. It completely spoils the experience. For me it's the literary equivalent of watching a movie with the actors fluffing their lines - there's no excuse for it really!

My thoughts exactly. Think I'll wait until the proofed version is confirmed. Still be interested to hear from anyone who's started reading it, particularly on how well Jenkins' original work has been integrated into it

As far as I can tell verry little of the Jenkins has been used it takes a plot line and just about everything else is down to Peter Vollmer it's not Bond by any means but as a light read it will suffice
Putting the poor edit and lack of proof reading to one side it just scrapes a six out of ten from me.

However it's a poor show to think that not only have the released a second edition
But in it they have added another chapter
So thats what you get for buying a 1st edition these days Crap Editing and no proof reading and an incomplete book to boot

I understand that the 2nd edition of Peter Vollmer's book entitled PER FINE OUNCE, with actual excerpts from the original 007 James Bond version as written by Geoffrey Jenkins, has now been re-published.

It seems the grammatical etc. issues have now all been sorted out now, so nothing got lost in translation this time, and this re-edited version of PER FINE OUNCE by Mr. Vollmer is an a fast-paced, exciting novel to read.

There is also more interesting background to the history of the "missing Bond novel" and an interview with the author Peter Vollmer talking about his own books and explaining how he was granted access and permission to publish excerpts from the original version of PER FINE OUNCE on the Literary007 website.

But what I wonder to they intend to do for us poor saps that went out and bought the first edition
With the execrable quality of spelling and no sign of any proof reading ???.

That’s how I feel. I’m not going to buy another bureau copy.

Okay I read the book recently and... it was fine.

Kept my interest from start to finish, interesting to consider how it would work as a Bond novel along the way.

One detail stood out, the main character Peace driving a Saab. Which I took as a nod the the John Gardner books, but couldn't place what year it would be. The older (non-turbos) being more interesting.

When at home he often spent his weekends at a small airfield in Kent where he tested his aerobatic skills. Of course, he did own a car, a black turbo Saab coupe, but preferred using a cab when travelling in the city. Most who knew him assumed he was attached to Naval High Command with an office in the city, his job occasionally taking him away from home.
