Looking into Space, Trying to Accept Things in SF

Anyone notice that at least three times in SF, we find main characters looking into space trying to come to terms with harsh realities?

Although a fake death in the beginning, M learning about Bond getting shot.
Bond and M overlooking the Scottish lake and myst just reflecting.
Bond looking missing M atop the building overlooking London accepting that he did his best and that they both served eachother loyally lovingly.

The progression of how each of these scenes gets deeper make the film have even more appreciative aspects.
