Hopefully this has not been tried. If it has, I offer my sincere apology to the mods.

Rate the Bond movies, by theme song in descending rank order. This may help if you need a refresher but you all seem pretty hardcore:

Shirley Bassey ranks highly for me. As well as the older movies. Thoughts?

Oh boy. With the films growing in numbers it gets harder and harder to do this. As time isn't my friend at the moment, I will get back to this in the future. I must say, standouts would be CR, TB, DN, GF, OP and Skyfall. I must say, Moore's Bond films really lucked out with some astounding theme songs. The only one that doesn't stand up to great ones like All Time High and The Spy Who Loved is Lulu's Man with the Golden Gun. I could probably listen to Moore's opening themes all day long, they are so catchy. Sean's are just classic, and FRWL's would be way higher if they would have put in Monro's vocals, Dalton's are okay but not mind-blowing, Brosnan's are so so (being generous) and Craig's are pretty great for the most part, only a few gripes here or there.

I find it hard to believe this isn't already a thread. However, here's my top 5...

    1. Diamond Are Forever
    2. A View To A Kill
    3. Live and Let Die
    4. O.H.M.S.S
    5. The Living Daylights

    Mr. Dyson's top 10...

  • My top 10 favourites.

    1) Live And Let Die (easily the best Bond song and also one of the best songs ever period. Also spawned an equally great Guns n Roses cover)

    2) You Know My Name (I prefer the rock Bond songs and I love this one)

    3) On Her Majesties Secret Service (Barry is a genius)

    4) The World Is Not Enough (fantastic song, best of the Brosnan era, although GE runs it close)

    5) A View To A Kill (so f****ing catchy)

    6) The Living Daylights (love the tune to this and it's as catchy as AVTAK)

    7) Nobody Does It Better (just really sums up Bond)

    8) Goldeneye (fantastic and it has my favourite opening titles sequence to go along with it)

    9) Diamonds Are Forever (great song, this is definetly Bassey's best one. Not a huge fan of Goldfinger and MR is a bit meh)

    10) Thunderball (classic, I really love the opening bars)

My top 5 Least favourites (from best to worst)

    1) Skyfall (meh. Adele is a good singer but no Shirley Bassey, lots of the tune is just the Bond theme and it builds up to something that never happens).

    2) Tommorow Never Dies (just boring, should've used Surrender)

    3) All Time High (same as TND, slow, boring, forgettable)

    4) Die Another Day (great opening titles but crap song. Electro pop BS that should've gotten nowhere near a Bond movie)

    5) Another Way To Die (shite. Awful, just awful. Shame because I like Jack White. The lyrics are on par with DAD and the vocals are screeched out, there's no melody, this is far and away the worst Bond song. Just crap)

Can't believe I'm only doing this for the first time in 2018. Are we sure there's no other thread for this? Anyway:

    1. James Bond Theme (Dr. No)
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service Theme (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)
    3. You Know My Name (Casino Royale)
    4. Live and Let Die
    5. You Only Live Twice
    6. Skyfall
    7. Goldfinger
    8. Nobody Does it Better
    9. A View to a Kill
    10. Diamonds Are Forever
    11. Licence To Kill
    12. The Living Daylights
    13. From Russia With Love (instrumental version over the titles not the Matt Munro version which I'd drop a few places lower).
    14. Thunderball
    15. All Time High
    16. The World Is Not Enough
    17. Goldeneye
    18. Tomorrow Never Dies
    19. The Man With The Golden Gun
    20. Writing's on the Wall
    21. For Your Eyes Only
    22. Moonraker
    23. Another Way To Die
    24. Die Another Day

    For what it's worth:

We Have All The Time in the World - I'd have this inbetween TB and All Time High at 15.

If There Was A Man - Below Writing's On The Wall at 21.

If You Asked Me To - Below Another Way to Die at 24.

The Experience of Love - Below every song ever recorded. Rory Kinnear in musical form.

Surrender - Below AVTAK at 10.

CR 67 Main Theme - Below All Time High at 16.

The Look of Love - Below TND at 19.

Never Say Never Again - Below Another Way To Die at 24.

    @WizardofIce,
You know, we are still lacking a ranking of the films themselves from you over on the "Bond Movie Ranking" page. Would love to add a ranking from you to the sample.

I tried with you before, but as of yet, I have not been able to get you to bite.

Sure I did it once eons (no pun intended) ago. Well for now suffice it to say OHMSS at the top DAD at the bottom and the rest somewhere in between.

    @TheWizardOfIce,
Yeah, I have only included lists which have been posted on the page since the release of Spectre (and include all 24 EON films) in the statistics.

I did look through some of the older comments though just now and while I haven't seen a ranking from you on that page yet, I did see comments from you pounding poor Shoreline and Perdogg for their lists. Lol.

Impossible not to put the James Bond theme first. What surprised me is how low GF placed. Perhaps I've heard it too much?

I'm so tired of the trend of too much JB theme in the title song (sampled, slowed down, sped up). Yes, I'm looking at you, SF, LTK, GE, and YKMN.

    1. Dr. No (James Bond theme)
    2. Nobody Does It Better
    3. A View To A Kill
    4. You Only Live Twice
    5. Live and Let Die
    6. Goldfinger
    7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    8. Diamonds Are Forever
    9. You Know My Name
    10. Skyfall
    11. The Writing's On The Wall
    12. For Your Eyes Only
    13. The Living Daylights
    14. From Russia With Love (instrumental)
    15. Moonraker
    16. The World Is Not Enough
    17. Goldeneye
    18. Thunderball
    19. Tomorrow Never Dies
    20. Licence To Kill
    21. Die Another Day
    22. All Time High
    23. The Man With The Golden Gun
    24. Another Way To Die

Agreed. The opening blast as Sean slams the door is the best 5 seconds of music in the series but after that I find myself increasingly considering the rest of it more and more average as the years go by. As a teenager I'd have had it top but nowadays songs like YOLT or DAF for example keep getting better the older I get.

    1. You Only Live Twice
Nancy Sinatra singing brilliant lyrics to a brilliant John Barry composition. What could go wrong?

    2. Live and Let Die
One of the few Bond songs which are truly about James Bond; the frantic passages blending with the slower ones works to great effect.

    3. You Know My Name
Chris Cornell's contribution was the first great Bond song in almost 20 years.

    4. The Living Daylights
Maybe it's John Barry's use of it in the soundtrack, but this songs always stays in my head for days when I've watched the film. Very energetic.

    5. For Your Eyes Only
A wonderfully romantic song, beautifully sung by the beautiful Sheena Easton. Always loved it.

    6. Nobody Does It Better
It fits the film it represents like not many title songs.

    7. Diamonds Are Forever
Shirley Bassey is the First Lady of Bond songs, of course. This is my favourite of hers.

    8. From Russia with Love
A very classic-sounding song that fits the old-fashioned style of the film.

    9. All Time High
A song that works as an instrumental as well as when it's sung. And Rita Coolidge sings great.

    10. A View to A Kill
Duran Duran truly wanted this gig. And they delivered!

    11. Goldfinger
Not my number one favourite, but iconic.

    12. Thunderball
This song is big and majestic, it prepares you for a big and majestic movie.

    13. Licence to Kill
Solidly average. I wish the producers had stuck with Michael Kamen's new arrangement of the Bond Theme, though, played by Eric Clapton and Vic Flick.

    14. Moonraker
Desperate to work in the title of the film, but a beautiful ballad.

    15. Skyfall
A little too repetitive and same-sounding, still an okay song.

    16. GoldenEye
Not Tina Turner's best song, but serviceable. I prefer the Ace of Base effort.

    17. Tomorrow Never Dies
Quite generic, yet it does the job - like the film. Of course it should have been Surrender.

    18. The Man with the Golden Gun
One of the few cringeworthy Bond songs. It sounds as if penned by a child.

    19. The World Is Not Enough
This has to be one of the shallowest songs ever written. Strange that Don Black did the lyrics.

    20. Another Way to Die
Hate to give Alicia Keys a thumbs down, but this is horrible in every way.
"Another ringer with the slick trigger finger for Her Majesty" - alright.

    21. Writing's on the Wall
Good Lord! Can you image Connery starring in movie with this title song?

    22. Die Another Day
I don't think I need to explain this.

Not included are Dr. No, because it uses the Bond Theme, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, where the title sequence is a fantastic track, but not a song.
I also did not include closing songs, because one was asked to go by the title theme song.
