  • CR manages the genius feat of being both retro and modern at the same time. And the song is one of the most under-rated in the canon

However, I have to go with TSWLM which is just great in every way (song included).

I have to choose CR, just because of the look of it. I'm also fan of the song, and of Cornell's too.

I hate to say something bad about Maurice Binder because i love his earlier bond film titles but does any one think that during the late 70's and 80's his work all looked fairly similar? but dont get me wrong i am a fan of his.
  • I must admit, with due respect for Binder, that I kinda prefer Kleinman's work (though he has the advantage of better technology).
CR wins it for me. I always loved the titles, but for the first time, after I saw CR at the cinema, I was not only talking about the characters, the plot or the action but also much about the titles. I loved them! And the contrast from black and white to this colorful title-sequence was just wonderful!

    Goldeneye is also fantastic!

One of my all time favourites will also forever be TSWLM.

I also really dig the FRWL one.

I like all the 60's ones, they are very stylish. GoldenEye was the very first Bond I ever saw in a theater and that opening gave me chills, still does. It's probably the best combinatiob of song and visuals yet, it's perfect.

And of course Casino Royale. It's fresh and familiar, very Bond and it fits the feel of the film.
  • Hands down From Russia With Love. So simple, but of course that's why it works so well.
  • I always take into consideration the accompanying theme intro that goes with it, it's always a factor, unless you just turn off audio (which is sometimes best), but as an update would include On Her Majestys Secret Service, License to Kill, The World is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies and Live and Let Die as fine examples of favorite opening titles

FRWL, OHMSS, TSWLM, GE and CR are among my favorites. Can't really decide a definite winner.

Thunderball (duh) - love the silhouettes of girls and the watery feel.

Casino Royale - simply badass and doesn't feel all CGI-loaded, though it probably is.

Live and Let Die - fire, skulls and a tremendous song. Maybe even better than the film.

Goldeneye - seeing this in the theater back in '95 was great. Girls coming out of guns and pounding sickles with hammers. I was 16 and I was hooked.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - the music is awesome and the idea of using scenes from previous films (in shapes of martinis no less) was a good one.

Infact, I think I'll probably have to re-watch all the title sequences to give an accurate opinion. I based my opinion solely on the visuals too, not taking the song into account.

    RIP Tony Scott

You can do this by watching the
bonus disc from the BOND 50 BluRay collection. They have all the opening credits from DN - QOS to watch. A lot easier than putting all the films in individually...All the newer credit sequences have the advantages of far superior technology to create more visually appealing images - however a lot of the earlier stuff is just so visualy iconic - my favourite? Thats a tough one. I have just watched all them in order and still can't make up my mind. The worst. Probably AVTAK. Just awful!

FRWL, Thunderball, OHMSS, TSWLM, GoldenEye, TND, TWINE, DAD, CR and Skyfall.

About that topic, I personally think it's getting better and better. Kleinman is a genius.
