Seriously, who gives the single best performance of Bond in the series?

I'm not talking about best actor or a ranking and sorry if this is a duplicate but I couldn't find anything. Who do ya'll think gave the single best performance for one film in the role?

My vote has to go to Connery in TB--this is the most confident, badass, yet very sympathetic and engaging Bond performance in the series. Connery is good (great even) in the previous three, but in TB it is almost second nature to him. I also love Dalton in LTK and Craig in SF.

  • The best performance in a single scene is definitely Connery in the first scene in Dr. No. I might dislike the movie, but that line delivery... it's godly!

Other than that, definitely Dalton in LTK.

Connery in either FRWL or TB. His performances in those 2 movies in particular are the blueprints to, not just how to be Bond but to be a man in general.

In terms of best Bond performance I'd say Sean in Goldfinger.

  • I'd go Connery in Thunderball. He brought together the best of the first three movies into one package, still tough yet now "superspy" tough.
  • Connery in FRWL and TB, Dalton in LTK and Craig in SF.
  • Connery in From Russia with Love with Dalton in License to Kill not very far behind
  • Daniel Craig in Casino Royale: He has the biggest arc in a single film of any actor playing Bond. Much of that is down to the script - his Bond has more happen to him, in character terms, in one film than in all the others put together.
  • Craig is a good Bond without question, but his biggest drawback is, he simply doesn't appear quite so human sometimes. Does some, and gets involved in some quite ridiculous scenarios sometimes, but Bond today is totally different from how I remember it of course

Connery and Dalton were more human so to speak, didn't really participate in any high risk stunts or outrageous bits and pieces you understand. Craig has the Fleming qualities, but seems a little too manic sometimes
  • Sean in Thunderball, peak of bond IMO.
