This is the second elimination game on the new site, posted with permission from Luds.

There was already an elimination game of all 22 gunbarrel sequences back on the old MI6 forum, but for this game we will vote only on 10 that differ visually (i.e. different actor, different take, different graphics). The score is thus not considerable except for OHMSS, DAD, QOS and CR, which are the only individual film gunbarrels listed.

**NOTE — The visual difference between Roger Moore 1 and Roger Moore 2 is that Roger actually filmed a second take starting in TSWLM. The visual difference between Pierce Brosnan 1 and Pierce Brosnan 2 is the CGI bullet added.

Each entry in this original post is linked to a YouTube video of the gunbarrel in question:

  • Why don't you just do an elimination game for the 22 different gunbarrels? They all have different music anyway: i.e. GE > DAD.

I suppose he cared about the visual aspect rather than the whole, music included.

Because that one was already done on the other forum, and this one has less entries so will not take as long and will be more head-to-head than a list of 22 entries.

But if enough people agree to go with all 22 entries I'm fine with changing it to that if Luds approves the change... I just figured we'd already done that so it would be too repetitive.

Don't get me wrong, the score is very important to each gunbarrel, but this is really the only way of cutting down the list. Unless we divided by John Barry and David Arnold score, in which case the game would last 5 minutes. :-D

No problem making this a shorter game based on the visual aspect there @Bond, it makes it different to previous games, and we can always run a full gunbarrel game in the future.

Important to remember its solely on the visuals and not let any particular music track cloud your judgement - in which case QOS should be gone by the end of the day.

As much as I champion Sean as Bond, his gun barrel really needed a take 2.

Hmm, I think I just realized something....

Is Daniel Craig's tuxedo coat actually CGI in the Casino Royale gunbarrel? I thought it swayed unnaturally when he turned around and shot, and the more I look at it closely, it looks like he was just wearing a white undershirt and the black coat was digitally added so they could manipulate a dramatic swaying effect.

    If so, wow. That's pathetic.

I can't stand Bob Simmon's version...the immensly slow walk is so predictable as to what's going to happen.

How did Daniel Craig's QOS version get killed first? Ack! Yes it's a bit fast, but clean, quick, and natural. @Bond is right, the CR coat looks really fake/unnatural. DAD should have gone first...grrr.

Nah, QOS is by far the worst gunbarrel. Way too rushed, ruins the whole tense and built-up atmosphere the gunbarrel sequence is supposed to create. And Craig's walk/shoot is just awful, looks like he couldn't wait to get it over with.

So Prince, you prefer the CGI bullet in DAD over the three previous otherwise identical incarnations?

I kind of see what you mean, but on the contrary I think the slow walk adds more menace; and the whole sequence is supposed to be an exaggeration to some degree. What stands out in Bob Simmons is his posture and stance. He has more physicality than the other actors.
