Anyone Getting Moore's Bond on Bond?

It's out today and I loved his memoir so much I am 100% picking this up ASAP. Reading My Word is My Bond I was wanting him to go much deeper into the series as a whole so this looks like the perfect opportunity for him to do so. You can read the intro on Amazon and his customary humor is in full swing. Gonna be a fun read.

  • An excellent looking book. Large, hardcovered, lots of beautiful pictures and of course filled with Sir Rog's usual hilarious commentary. Will be reading it when I go on my 2 week hiatus from the Forum so I don't read Skyfall spoilers.

Haha. That's smart, Sir Henry. It's so hard to not read the reviews. I read the blurbs. I got the Bond 50 BD pack as well, gonna hit that up soon and have my Bond book too. All leading up to SF!
  • Have already bought it! Bought 2 copies in fact as I got both signed by the great man himself. Its a terrific book and has great insight into the Bond universe. Queued for 4 and a half hours to see him and get both signed by Sir Roger! Was worth the wait....he's magnificent, definetly a national treasure. What a man, what a book!

Got it, really cool and great pictures!
  • Anyone be interested in buying my spare signed copy of it??
  • Bought mine at the Bond screenings at MOMA. I love how it's laced with Moore's wit. Truly a one of a kind man.
  • Got my copy today at an 'afternoon with Roger Moore' in Southampton. Got it hand signed by the man himself & I got to speak to him if on for about ten seconds! What a great day, what a legend and what a great book!!

I wish he was coming to the U.S. where I might be able to have my copy signed and meet the legend.
  • looks like a fantastic book! I peruse it everytime I go into Waterstones waiting for a bus lol waiting a week or so for my birthday to either buy it as a treat or recieve it as a gift lol I'm finding it hard to wait though. Also, I found the Skyfall on Set book today which looks great too!!!!

I noticed this in Waterstones the other day, I have so far resisted reading any of it, hopefully Santa will bring it for me!

The Works discount bookstore ALREADY have this for sale at £9.99 (RRP £25).

To be honest, I wouldn't pay more than a tenner for the book. Great pictures and amusing comments by Moore, but it's very a lightweight read and nothing you won't know already. In addition, it's pointless Moore talking about other Bond movies when he admits in the foreword he knows little about them. The best parts of the book are, of course, his memories and experiences when making his seven movies, and it's just padded out by adding, "And then Timothy Dalton/Pierce Brosnan etc did this/shot here/used this weapon in the following films."

I won't spoil anything for you, but some of the interesting stuff concerns the amount of creative input Roger himself decided to have in the films, some of the antics of the Bond girls, and that he wished Sean Connery and himself had appeared in a Bond film together.

The book strangely includes the '67 Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again, yet Moore admits never having watched the latter. Would it have been so hard for the publishers to make him watch every Bond film before (co)writing the book, atleast to have them fresh in his mind?

    Lovely pictures though.
