    Guilty as charged!

    DAF was the first Bond film I ever saw, and it's up there in my top 3 to this day (even #1 on a good day). The color, the music, the adventure, the mystery, the witicisms, Sean Connery and the endless featuring of over the top characters...

    Maybe I'm biased, but I was so entertained and astounded by DAF on first viewing that I wanted to see every other Bond film after that. I'm not so sure LALD, FYEO, or GE (just to name a few) would have had that effect.

    Goldfinger was my first and I still think it's the best, as is Sean.

    I honestly can't recall, as stated before, my actual first Bond viewing experience. Goes so far back I can't possibly remember such a thing. Watched the TV releases more than actual theater openings going back far enough as my interest grew, I became a fan through way of that really rather than initially going to the cinema to see a certain release. One of the first for me I remember seeing was Diamonds too, at a time when the interest was growing, and it has just come on leaps and bounds in the subsequent years

    We all find different paths and turns on our way to Bond enthusiasms etc

    Sorry, but going from Brosnan to Connery enlightened me to what Bond is supposed to be.

    Quite. Not Pierce Brosnan, for sure

    Only Dalton or Connery ever came close for me, as in nearest to Fleming's character, the others merely make up the numbers

    True for me. Moore was my first Bond. I'd watch VHS recordings in the late 80's when I was very young, over and over. Connery came second and never really replaced Roger. I think a lot of this stems from Ken Adam in TSWLM and MR. As a child I was obsessed with 'bad guys bases' and these films delivered epic villain's lairs. LALD was also a visual treat as a kid, everyone remembers 'the voodoo one'.

    GE was my first cinematic experience and I have exceptionally fond memories of that and the Brosnan era. I hate seeing it get bashed. I can see objectively why it gets a bit of flack nowadays but I think a lot of it is unjust in the context of the series. I remember being on forums before DAD came out and at the time everybody loved Brosnan.

    So Moore it is for me. I do however love OHMSS. How's that for a paradox?

    The nostalgia factor plays a part with a lot of people, I'm quite sure of that. The first Bond I remember seeing was LALD, then Octopussy; with my first cinema Bond, being AVTAK; it is therefore, perhaps, little surprise that I have a soft spot for Roger Moore, even though I fully recognise that Sean Connery is the finest of them all.

    Sentiment is a powerful Bond-picking force. It's odd, and maybe even inexplicable: I am in awe of Connery, doff the hat to Lazenby, admire Dalton, am impressed by elements of Brosnan, and have great hopes for Craig, but I only remember really caring and worrying about Moore's Bond. Is that sentiment? Nostalgia? It's certainly a visceral reaction.

    Dalton LTK be my first Bond as i remember, Brosnan be the first i saw in the cinema but Roger Moore is my favorite Bond.

    The 3 first Brosnan Bond movie's stay in my Top 3 and 5 movie's of the Roger Moore era stay in my top 11.

    Also guilty as charged, I am truly a total diehard Connery fan not just as Bond, he's also my cinematic hero and one of if not the greatest actors of all time. I've been lucky enough to see each of his successors debut on the big screen as the years have gone by and while Craig, Dalton, and Sir Rog have been excellent, Sir Sean is still the man if you feel the need to compare.

    My first Bond film was Goldeneye. Just amazing....my favourite until I saw Casino Royale.

    My first Bond film was TLD, it's still my 2nd fave. My favourite is LTK, and Dalton always has been my favourite Bond. I think he probably would be anyway but him being the first one I saw definetly helped.

    I can't say this applies to me, but I can certainly see why it would for most. I don't recall which I saw first (some from Connery or Moore for sure), but FYEO was the first one I saw at a point where I had an understanding that it was the latest one. That said, OHMSS is my favorite currently, and has been for a good eight years of so. But that wasn't always the case for sure.

    TLD was my first cinema Bond and remains in my top five. Rate Dalton highly too.

    I grew up with Brosnan, I admired Pierce alot when I was a young kid. I always dreaded the day of when Brosnan would not be bond anymore. When Craig was announced as Bond I was 14 ,I was alittle upset Brosnan got the boot but slowly afterwards I started to accept the new change and now I'm 21 years old. Now my favorite Bond is Daniel Craig by a long shot. I look back at the Brosnan outings now and can definitely see why I enjoy Craig more. Its because Craig is realistic, he brings bond to life in the ways bond was intended to be. He is in great physical shape in which a real field agent would be, he doesn't joke around much, I mean seriously if you're a licensed hitman for MI6 I highly doubt an agent would be quiping after a vicious kill. There's no silly gadgets. Basically I prefer realism , not humorous quiping, stupid stunts or outrageous plots. Craig keeps Bond in the here and now, not in outerspace floating with a steel tooth giant assassin.

    Yes and no!

    I mean, I LOVE GoldenEye and Pierce Brosnan as Bond, and yes that was my initial exposure.

    HOWEVER, I prefer Casino Royale and Daniel Craig as Bond. So erm, not always true :)

    As far as I can remember, GF was the first one I saw and yes, Connery is my favorite, but I came to that decision after watching FRWL.

    I do believe, from talking to other people, that the initial exposure could be a powerful predictor in the cases of Connery, Moore and Brosnan. It could now happen with the young cohorts initiated by Craig's films. Although, I clarified, I don't have empirical evidence. We can start by making the poll here (what do you think, mods?)

    I wish I could remember which movie I saw first. I watched a lot of them on television with my dad when I was very young in the early 80's. I'm not sure whether it was because he was Bond at the time or I just liked him that much (I suspect that it was a little of both) but I loved Roger Moore then and he's still my favorite now. I do remember that my first cinema viewing was AVTAK and I loved every second of it! Over the years I obviously realized that this was not Roger's best movie but I'll always have a sentimental fondness for it. In fact I can remember having a very difficult time accepting Timothy Dalton as Bond when I first saw TLD. I was just traumatized that Rog was gone! As I got older I was finally able to appreciate what Dalton did but I'm still not all that crazy about him as 007.

    No, not at all. Moore was my first Bond, I liked him, but he never became a firm favourite, and neither did anyone else - if anyone would ask, I'd be "oh, well, umm..." - until 2006. There's been no hesitation about the answer after that. So, after initial introduction to Bond and first times seeing the Bond movies in the theatre, I just kept going to see the new Bond films and actors for about a quarter of a century before finally finding my favourite. :)

    having come up in a time when Sean and Roger were on almost once a month I have to say I disagree. I find neither Bond that I grew up with to be the best. I think Timothy Dalton is the closest Bond to the original books. I think Pierce Brosnan is the perfect formula movie Bond. I put Craig ahead of Sean and Roger as well.

    George is in my favorite bond film but dont think he is the best Bond

    I had heard old Desmond make the statement that "your favorite Bond is the one you first saw>"
    I agree with this but of course and judging from some of your comments there are exceptions to this rule.

    I was first exposed to Sean Connery, and he remains my favorite despite the fact that he is not in any of my favorite Bond films.

    I feel that way about Dalton I love him as Bond but they are not my favorite films

    Moore was my first Bond on TV (TMWTGG), first in the cinema (AVTAK), the first person I identified with the role - for a long time not knowing other people played the role, and comfortably my least favourite Bond...so it is far from absolute as a rule.

    I think there is some truth in the first bond actor you see being you favourite.
    However, I think this is because it 'feels' right rather than the movies being the best.
    As you watch more and grow into bond I think that changes, especially if you read the books.
    I grew up with Moore but Connery is my favourite. They are two completely different bonds tho. I like the light heartedness of the Moores some days but enjoy the grittiness of the Connerys other days.

    Moonraker was the first bond I ever saw and even tho it isnt one of the strongest I still get a special feeling when I watch it.
