EON (Eady or Noddy, but don't Call me Bwana!)

edited September 2012 in Bond Movies Posts: 16

I just wanted to get a better understanding of how the profits regarding the franchise are dispersed.
Does EON and its producers get a percentage?
Do the studios like SONY and MGM put up the budget and wait for BO rankings?
Who benefits from the merchandising, Danjaq LLC?
Stuff like this...anyone that can shed more light would be welcomed!

Good thread idea. If there is one thing that confuses me, it is finances. I have always been curious just how the Bond rights and the money gotten from his exploitation and all that are distributed.

I don´t know much, but a lot of money has to be generated from banks and I guess studios which also function like banks in this regard. That money has to be paid back. Perhaps more, according to indivudual contracts. Basically everyone interested can buy himself into a film, and if he invests enough money he may be credited as co-producer. The money which remains after everything is paid back I guess is what the actual filmmakers or company earn. Unless the film is with Tom Cruise, then he gets one third of the winnings.
