Oh that's sad news. Parky was the best, yes he was 88 and had retired many years ago.
    Still a shock. RIP

    R.I.P. Michael Parkinson,
so many great interviews, classic T V.
I hated when he took over Barry Normans Film programme, but he'll always be remembered for his own show!

Roger Moore - James Bond 007 - 1980s Michael Parkinson Interview

Parky was a legend, i saw him on Talking Pictures channel last night it was a advertisement for the classic movie channel. Other famous people from his era including Caroline Munro were discussing the channel, Michael did look very frail I did not recognize him initially, though it was great to see him.

    R.I.P. Parky

    Great interview.

That was a great interview. Thanks for sharing @Fire_and_Ice_Returns
Goes to show what a great talent Parky was, in making his guests feel at ease. Allowing them to talk, and doing the necessary research.
Something lacking in many talk shows.
Also sad the Sean talked about TLOEG which would be his final film role. He certainly had more roles in him at that point. Unfortunately it didn’t happen.

Unfortunately talk shows in some cases became more about insults and cheap laugh's, I prefer the more in depth interviews of yesteryear.

TLOEG certainly left a bitter taste for Sean I can understand why he became disillusioned by the industry, it is a shame he did not make more films the roles were certainly there for him.

Sad to hear of the death of one of the greats of TV interviewing, Sir Michael Parkinson, aged 88. As well as all of his TV work he was also the second presenter of BBC Radio 4's long-running Desert Island Discs between 1986 and 1988. As something a bit different here he is interviewing Bond author Kingsley Amis on 9th November 1986 (in 4 parts):

I can't believe I learned avout his death only today. The French Connection is one of my favourite movies. As good as The Exorcist is, The French Connection is even greater.

I was just reminded that Michael Parkinson (along with James Coburn and Christopher Lee, etc..) was on the cover of Paul McCartney’s 1973 album Band on the Run. Mr. Parkinson is on the far left of the photo.

Not being in the UK, I didn’t get to see his TV program, but in recent years I have seen various clips of him on YouTube and he seemed like a very good and pleasant interviewer.
    RIP.

I listened to that album a few weeks ago, Parky is in good company there and of course a few Super Spy/Bond links.

One of Italy's most famous singers, Toto Cutugno, has passed away, aged 80.

Arguably best known for this lovely song:

He also won the Eurovision Song Contest for Italy in 1990:

Needless to say that I've always been a fan. RIP, Toto :(

The original Harley Quinn. What a great start to a major legacy character. Ironically, Batman: Arkham Asylum had its 14th anniversary yesterday, the last time she voiced Harley. We were talking about it on the Batman thread. She will be missed, she was always fun.

It saddens me to think that Batman The Animated Series is becoming like Batman 66 when I was young: more and more people who helped make it great are slowly passing away.

Very sad news with the passing of Arleen Sorkin, so wonderful as Harley Quinn in the Batman series.
Also, the legendary Bob Barker at the age of 99, just three months short of his 100th.
    RIP.

Or as us Latin scholars would say: DE MORTVIS NIHIL NISI BENE. Ok, just showing off here. It was probably in some Asterix album.

Some fine sentiments and much love expressed for the passing of Jimmy Buffet at age 76 on 1 September. 50 plus year career and over 30 albums and a 1 billion dollar empire. More importantly a good life lived. Descriptions have him passing peacefully with family, friends, dogs, and music.

I must say that reading about the death of Jimmy Buffett in the online NYT, I clicked on every single YouTube link in the article and did not know any of the songs at all. This is not to say I don't like them upon first listening into them. Just that he never registered with me in any way. Still, of course, may he rest in peace.
