    At least she won't be completely blinded by this, thank god. It makes it a lighter blow to my heart.

    Unfortunately, macular degeneration is irreversible in the long term. There are various treatments for the wet form, but they only arrest the symptoms for a while. They are not a cure. There are currently no medical or surgical treatments for the dry form. Eventually, she will go blind or at least legally blind. Just how much sight she loses in her remaining years is anyone's guess.
