    I'm really curious what direction the script will go in. Villeneuve not only directed big sci-fi blockbusters but also thrillers and dramas like Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners and Incendies. All atmospheric, haunting films that left a really long impression. How dark will Bond 26 go, or does Villeneuve have some tricks up his sleave that we haven't seen yet?

    I think November 2027 is still a possibility. Skyfall had a press conference in November 2011, before the start of shooting, for a November 2012 release.

    Dune 3 is expected to shoot until January 2026, Pattinson is expected to shoot Batman 2 in the spring. Considering this, post-production on Dune 3 should be finished by late summer 2026 for a winter release.

    Therefore, I think, there is still enough time for Bond 26 to shoot November 2026-March 2027, to premiere at the end of 2027.

    I'm sure Villeneuve's not ignorant of what Bond needs - style, humour, spectacle etc. He's been hired to make a Bond film and that's what he'll make. As for how 'dark' it'll go, I think you'll get a handful of scenes which stand out due to that tone (ie. NTTD having the rather gruesome SPECTRE deaths followed by the lighter shootout in Cuba, or perhaps Jaws killing his victims in that horror film-esque way in TSWLM etc.)

    On more of a story level, I don't know exactly what he'll bring. I can imagine his villain having something quite twisted in their motives (not dissimilar to the last three - not something personal necessarily, but it'll be more nuanced than just wanting to blow up the world or whatever).

    Villeneuve wont recluse himself from working on Bond whilst making Dune Messiah. I am sure he will oversee the scripting and have input whilst Pascal & Heyman take care of the more pressing day to day stuff.

    You're right.

    DV adapted to screen a book by José Saramago! Cmon, who else can do that and get away with it? He's a true master. His favorite director is Kubrick. Kubrick could do it all, 2001 or Barry Lyndon. I say we're in for a treat.

    -He's going to come on Bond's face.
    -And, last but not least, the actor playing Bond must f**k us.

    Amazon is sticking with Eon-favored personnel, Pascal and now Villeneuve. So I expect the Eon tropes to be there (the gunbarrel, title song, theme, etc.). Is Villeneuve on record talking about any of the Bond novels?

    Is Dune or Dune 2 close to the novels? There's hope.

    This is good news. I don't think Villeneuve will make a Bond film as dark as Prisoners. He understands there must be a balance. And it also heralds a return to the Sam Mendes mold after the darkness of Bond 25.

    Mendes' Spectre feels darker than NTTD to me.

    Yeah, I can see that. SP has a lot more of a strait laced feel to it (although it has gags such as Bond's Aston gadgets not working). NTTD has these big tonal jumps from dark to very comedic.

    The humour in NTTD doesn't land for me. And the overall film has a foreboding quality to it. All in all, it just leaves a foul taste in my mouth.
