McIlvanney on Connery

This may be old news to others here, but I have just become aware that famed crime writer William McIlvanney has written a 90,000-word manuscript about Sean Connery.

McIlvanney knew Connery; they tried to make a film from McIlvanney's novel Laidlaw in the late 70s. Later McIlvanney proposed collaboration on Connery's biography, and when that fizzled it soured their relationship.

McIlvanney, who died in 2015, wrote his "Almost a Book about Sean Connery" independently and published chapters from it on his website in 2013 (http://www.personaldispatches.com/dispatch007a.html). I would dearly like to read the whole thing.
