Nicholas Hoult. A future James Bond in the waiting?

He is now 22 and by the time DC finishes he'll be about 27/28 just the right age to take over the mantle.

Nicholas has classical Bond looks and is growing in stature both on stage, TV and now big budget films. He's quiet, reserved and I like him. With our Henry in Blue tights and Assbender not being the right age when DC hangs up his holster, I think Nicholas has the right fit.

Let's see how is career develops and I hope to keep this discussion going, even if it is just me, to see if he gets the role. Plus he's also the new face of Tom Ford. This is Bond's fav tailor at the mo. He's 6ft 3 inches.

So expect updates every month on him.

He looks like a little boy and doesn't fit any description of Bond ever made. If I'm honest he doesn't look manly in my opinion. Or tough.

I still think of him as the little kid from About a Boy

Give him 25 - 30 years, let him hit the bottle and get away from it, live a little rock'n roll, put him through the works and get a few lines on his face. Then he might look like a contender.

This 6ft 3 giant is still growing into his body - he is a type and I can see him developing. As i say give him a few years, there's something about Dalton about him, which is never a bad thing...

Dalton aged 22 on the left, not the Bond looks yet.

And all actors wear make up and that includes a bit of lippy.

We must have a 'pick an actor for the next Bond' thread somewhere?

I'll find it and link to it from here.

I don't see the Dalton resemblance. But you do have a point about Dalton. As much as I like him not only as a Bond, but an actor, i'm glad he never got the role back in 1968/1969. However, by the time Cubby came a knockin' in the 1980's, he'd matured. So I wouldn't rule Hoult out as a potential future Bond just yet.

I have a hard time picturing one of the actors of Skins as Bond...

I sincerly hope not. He looks like too much of a pretty boy and has none of the ruthlessness associated with Bond.

And I agree he looks like a child in that pic.

With Wilson saying he's eyeing up DC to do 8, my man might be in contention now.

I reckon with such a public statement DC and Eon have reached a stalemate in negotiating his new contract for the the next two. A bit of public PR and pressure ummmmmm I wonder?

Still looks REALLY young. He doesn't have a manly appeal in my opinion. He looks to effeminate for Bond. Yes he has a built body, but its model built, not Connery-man built.

Bond isn't a male model. He's a cigar club-whiskey drinking athletic and tough British soldier, not a model.

To be fair, even Sean wasn't always the looker he formed to be in DN to TB:

And he was a contestant for Mr. Universe, and George an Australian model. Male model types can still be Bond. Hell, Sean is supreme and he showed off his body in his early years.

He may have been an extremely physical man but Lazenby was a male model don't forget.

And how did ol' Lazenby's track record work out?
  • He's still young, wait until he has some age in that face and body. He's the one to watch I'm sure. Looking forward to jack the giant killer.
  • Joshua Bowman. Just changed my mind. This guy is the one to watch to be the next Bond.
