Does NTTD follow the Bond formula too much? (SPOILERS)

Some critics say this film has tried to be a compilation of previous Bond films, to the point where it's somewhat weighed down by Bond tropes.

It subverts the formula in numerous ways though: The bizarre opening. The tragic ending. Bond having a long-term relationship and a child. No casual sex. A woman as 007. Plot is a bit more complex than average.

I guess the only derivative part is the villain's story/writing. The evil lair on the island. A kooky world domination plot with no explained motivation. LeChiffe's and Silva's plots felt more modern and relevant.

Imo, NTTD is more derivative than Casino and Skyfall, but still more innovative than the majority of Bond films.
