To be fair he does seem to be the only mainstream action character these acting judges think is hard to play. Because acting mad and OTT is so tricky... :D
Oh, the good old days...
I'm taking my frustrations out on Joaquin Phoenix winning when I don't think he did anything special. The Joker seems to be the only character that the academy acknowledges, even if there are better performances out there. I don't want to get into too deep of a discussion on this, and it probably wasn't worth bringing it up. But I still think Craig should have been nominated.
And the best Bond acting debut is....Sean Connery in DN! Sean couldn't be with us tonight as we don't pay for our recipients to come on stage to accept the award. We shall accept on his behalf.
The voting results show a surprise for this academy member.
Sean Connery DN 13 votes
George Lazenby OHMSS 0 votes
Roger Moore LALD 1 vote
Timothy Dalton TLD 4 votes
Pierce Brosnan GE 0 votes
Daniel Craig CR 4 votes
I would not rate the acting of Timothy to be on level with Daniel but that's just me!
Okay time to swing back to the Klebbie side of things. We will now vote on Worst send-off of a Bond actor from the series. I want the academy to consider the overall picture and decide which production is the worst. We will only have 4 nominees for this award. It is interesting that overall the last film of the actor in the role hasn't been a shining cinematic acheivement. Without further ado here are the nominees:
I know some members of the academy will scoff at a certain film and actor being on this list but we like a good controversy! Lets look at the overall film and even the performance of the man playing Bond. Which one of these was the worst send off for the actor. I must also remind the academy that we are only considering "official" film entries so NSNA is not included in this list and since George's debut was also his send off I didn't see the point in including that film.
Roger makes a quiche and his stunt double does almost everything else in A View to a Kill
The most tired and least inspired of those 004. (Even more frustrating in retrospect is that if Sir Rog had exited the series with OP he probably would've had the best final Bond film for a lead 007 actor.) None of the others are in my top 0010 but I find all of them more entertaining than AVTAK, even DAD CGI warts and all.
Should have boated off into the sunset with Octopussy
What’s more, I don’t have a problem with an out of shape Connery but I do have a problem with a bored Connery.
DAD is an even worse film but it followed an already very bad streak of movies (TND being the exception).
AVTAK had grandpa Roger running around girls half his age but at least he still looks involved in the part... and it has Walken.
LTK is only on this list by default. I don’t expect anyone with a right mind to pick it.
DAF gets my vote.
But you not include those, so i vote for DAD. That Ice chase for movie was very disapointed and overall i like and see the other movies more. Stil DAD sometimes turn down for great things there try. Sean Connery have more humor in DAF. AVTAK is my GF as moost know and Timothy Dalton is great in LTK and i like the plot, something that i not realy fan from of DAD. Also it is Brosnan worse performance.
I think that Connery and Moore only knew that their last films would their last. Dalton and Brosnan were always up in the air.
Ah I see, very reasonable.
On a sidenote, I missed the last round, unfortunately, but my vote would have gone to the brilliance that is Timmy D.
DAF is also the worst Fleming book in my opinion.
I think it's worse actually: at least DAD has some set pieces and a bit of structure. What's a highlight of DAF?
I think DAD is pretty entertaining in a sort of trashy way, whereas DAF kind of limps along and gets a bit dull.

Horrendous dialogue
