    Union Jack parachute.

Can someone explain why the bungee jump is an amazing stunt? It's a bungee jump. In fact, haven't I heard of normal people doing the same jump in the same place?

All good and impressive scenes, but MR takes this one, despite the visible parachutes.

Rick Sylvester climbs and a mountain and takes a few free falls in the film FYEO

This was an impressive stunt in the time that the new 007 movie delivered some excellent stunt-work each movie.

Four out of five of these stunts are from Roger’s films, which I find interesting.

Most car jumps are boring. But for TMWTGG they gave the traditional car jump a new twist :)) so I vote for Willard’s car jump.

To be honest, though, any one of these stunts would be a worthy winner.

Rick Sylvester "bonds" with the Union Jack with a parachute from the film TSWLM

It has to be mentioned that there is some fantastic stunt work in the action scene at the construction site in CR, by Sebastian Foucan especially, but also by whoever it is standing in for Craig. Those incredible high altitude jumps make me gasp every time!

TSWLM, because it literally saved the series.

MR is a close second, though, and might have topped it without the Jaws ending.

Even though I am one of the very few fans who prefer MR to TSWLM on the whole I vote for:

[*] Rick Sylvester "bonds" with the Union Jack with a parachute from the film TSWLM

Honorable mention to the MR/BJ Worth/no parachute work though.

True. My understanding is a lot of the at-height stuff was done by Craig himself.

I'll go with MR freefall. TSWLM is more iconic, but MR is just a bit more awe inspiring to me.

I think Calvin Dyson put it best, there are more technically impressive stunts in the series, but for just sheer wow factor Rick Sylvester's jump in TSWLM is easily the best scene stealing stunt in the series.

Sorry to nit-pick, but Jake Lombard doubled Roger Moore in the MR pts stunt.
BJ Worth doubled for the pilot.

The one in TMWTGG is absolutely insane. I'll go for that one.

Yeah that’s some pretty crazy stuff there. Octopussy has some great stunt work along with that, the car chase and the train stuff.

Here in the DRP we love the Sylvester stunt so much we often try to recreate it ourselves

    PC12840.jpg

so that gets the vote, however TMWTGG (even with the whistle) is a close second

I'm not keen on heights so I do tend to find the dangling-from-the-blimp (look how high he is!! How long did it take to get him there over the bay?) and the fighting-on-the-Golden-Gate stuff in AVTAK very impressive. And horrible to watch!

You sure are never a nit-pick but always a welcome edition to any thread you grace! I stand corrected.

Both stuntmen are doing impressive stuff though, and both wear the 'invisible' parachute during the sequence.

Plus of course, don't forget the guy filming it who had to wear the camera on his head, quite a dangerous thing to do back then.

Time for us to award a Bondie. The winner of the best scene stealing stunt is Rick Sylvester bonds with the Union Jack from The Spy Who Loved Me.

A tally of the votes shows us that all the stunts got at least 1 vote!

Rick Sylvester falls off a cliff in FYEO 1 vote
Rick Sylvester bonds with the Union Jack in TSWLM 9 votes
BJ Worth and Jake Lombard jump out of a plane in MR with 4 votes
Wayne Michaels bungee jumps to bring in a new era and a new Bond 1 vote
Willard "Bumps" Loren flips in TMWTGG with 1 vote

Wonderful stuff! Yes the Bond movies have had a ton of great stunts over the years. Nice to see them get some recognition! Lets award another Bondie. Lets do best song. The Bond movies have been blessed with some wonderful songs. The nominees are
    • Paul McCartney and Wings for Live and Let Die from Live and Let Die
    • Carly Simon for Nobody Does it Better from The Spy Who Loved Me.
    • Shirley Bassey for Goldfinger from Goldfinger
    • Adele for Skyfall from Skyfall
    • Chris Cornell for You Know My Name from Casino Royale

Time for the esteemed academy to vote! Who will take home the Bondie for best song!

Among the nominees I vote for Live And Let Die which is a masterpiece of a song, only YOLT edges it as greatest ever Bond song.
Then Goldfinger, NDIB, YNMN and trailing far behind is Skyfall which is quite frankly, shite.

Tricky ones to choose between there yet again...

LALD is a bit of a masterpiece; really quite inventive and not really following the form of other any song I know (its chorus is an instrumental!!!), and if you told Bond fans that the next Bond song would have reggae passages in it they'd be hammering furiously on their keyboards saying 'I'm not racist BUT..' until dawn. And yet it sounds totally Bond. Witchcraft.

Nobody Does It Better is a fantastic song, nothing else to say about that really. And yet for me it's always lacked a bit of Bond factor to it.

Goldfinger. All-time classic, perfect in almost every way and set the standard. Yes, there's more than a bit of Mancini in there, but it's Goldfinger. Nuff said.

Skyfall. I think it's a great Bond song and everyone loved it, plus it worked very well in the film. The melody isn't the strongest maybe, but it's still the best Bond song of the last 25 years or so.

YKMN. It's a really fun tune and it works so well in the film, but I always feel it doesn't quite seem to go anywhere and feels a bit 'faux rock' somehow.

So between LALD and Goldfinger for me. John Barry and Paul McCartney: two of the greatest musical geniuses of the last century. I'm going to have to go for Goldfinger as it's the start of it all, defining the sound the Bond films will forever be known for and still the best in many ways.

Shirley Bassey for Goldfinger from Goldfinger

It's the one that set the course for all the ones that followed.

    Nobody Does It Better.

When Carly swings into her last "And...nobody does it better," it truly is the best sung moment in a Bond film.

I saw Paul McCartney perform Live and Let Die last year and it was an absolutely extraordinary experience. I think my vote will have to go to Nobody Does it Better though.

LIVE AND LET DIE is my choice, never get tired of listening to it!
YKMN is a worthy runner up, has the same effect!
