In researching "The Real James Bond," I came across a bit of mystery. Which edition of "Birds of the West Indies" did Ian Fleming have when he appropriated the author's name for 007. Many Fleming scholars believe it was the 1947 edition. Based on a 1964 interview with Bond himself, I am inclined to go with the first edition from 1936. What do you think?
You can read my blog post on the subject here. Thank you.
