My main problem with NTTD is right now that my wife did not want to go to the showing that I had ordered tickets for online (after having seen it solo the first afternoon) because she was (justifiably) afraid it might interfere with a video conference that she could not get out of. So I canceled those tickets. But my suggestion to go see it next Sunday together did not meet with great enthusiasm either. I have a feeling that she read somewhere (not here, and I didn't tell her either) what the outcome of the film is, and is sort of afraid to watch it. So I won't see it for a second time either for now. But I'll keep trying.

If you actually do live in Hamburg, don't see it at Cinemaxx Dammtor. Went to my third viewing there today (first two were at Savoy) , and they seem to show films at like half the correct brightness. It was awful. People are finally thinking about going to the cinema and they're delivering a terrible experience.

As much as I enjoyed Ana De Armas in her brief appearance,it’s unfortunate they had to hammer home that Bond isn’t the womaniser he used to be in that she shows no interest in him.He wasn’t with Madeline at this point in the story and they could have gotten him together with her.Sean and Rogers Bonds would have had her in bed in 5 mins flat.

But this is 2021,showing a straight white male seducing women is unacceptable apparently 🙄

I am glad I compartmentalize and see Craig's era and other Bond era as separate entity's.

NTTD and DN have no impact on each other to me, and both are great movies.

In NTTD, there are probably the most references to DN. So the impact is significant IMO.

I think there are more references to OHMSS and YOLT though that in no way effected my viewing, I think NTTD was a great movie in the context of the separate DC era.

I hope in time some others can enjoy the film as much as I did, personally in years to come I think it will be highly regarded.

Nah I think it was an age gap issue. The reverse of Moore and Bibi.

Or is it only okay for Bond to reject the advances of the opposite sex and not find someone attractive?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Paloma not wanting to sleep with Bond. Just because someone’s a womaniser doesn’t mean they can get every woman.

Also, No Time To Die was always gonna be more about Bond and Madeleine. I’m sure we’ll see Bond up to his old tricks again in Bond 26, just don’t expect him to get with every woman he meets.

And again after such a paternal relationship in Knives Out I’m glad they didn’t go there with Paloma.

Yeah I didn't like the fact she turned down Bond, it felt shoehorned in. It would have been better to keep them platonic, like QOS with Camile (minus the kiss)
Ana and Daniel's chemistry was superb, I love the tender moment when she touched his face to put the earpiece in
My only really gripe was Paloma doing the "Fleabag expression" at Waldo when he thought she was his escort. It was silly and felt beneath her badass character

I was definitely disappointed to hear Paloma didn’t get the usual Bond girl treatment, but hardly surprising in the current climate; hopefully there won’t be so much silly sensitivity about Bond being a multi-woman man in the next era. What I thought would have been a more interesting subversion is if Paloma seduced Bond unexpectedly instead and made all the moves quickly, and Bond not knowing how to reply immediately. I’m sure she’ll still be a pleasure to watch - just really don’t want a monogamous Bond to be a regular thing after this movie. He’s had 3 true loves now - time to go back to basics.

For heaven's sake, Paloma sparkled thanks to Ana and to Cary for putting her in this. Everything about her interaction with Bond was just right. And they left it with her happy for him to stay longer next time.

If it had been otherwise, more in line with the old Bond girl instantly wants to undress Bond and makes that known clearly on the screen, I actually would have been slightly disappointed here. This film is never glaringly "pc" or "woke" (Both terms of which I am easily fed up with people harping on about - nothing in NTTD to complain about, in my opinion, on that territory; none at all). For me, as a female viewer who enjoys many of the incarnations of Bond girls in the history of Bond films, I found Paloma in every way to be just right in this film. It was spot on perfect and she served this story like a glowing gem in a fresh, appropriate way.

Yes - Bond's unused line from one of the drafts of the SP screenplay ('But I hardly know you!') would've got a big laugh if Paloma had made a move on him.

I'm glad to hear you found her a really good part of the film and that the film isn't overly PC - I've heard Bond "gives as good as he gets" towards Nomi, so that sounded promising. I have to admit, I liked that Bond and Camille's relationship was mostly platonic, so this might work out fine too for me. I just have my concerns about them moving more towards monogamy or no sex at all with Bond, which I think would be too far from the original character.

I am not concerned about Bond not having sex. And I do not mind if he is monogamous in a Bond film (TLD, right? or am I forgetting an interaction in that one) - but I am happy when he is not monogamous, as long as it is not with many. That does not feel right. More than two women in a Bond film, I would probably prefer not to happen. This is a small thing for me in the overarching Bond world.

I mean he was well up for it with Nomi in the beginning and that all goes south quickly so it's not like he didn't try to have sex with other women.

I don’t think the character will be monogamous going forward. To me, No Time To Die was just an effort to introduce Bond girls who didn’t need to sleep with Bond, plus I imagine it was also an effort to keep the focus on Bond and Madeleine. As for the no sex, I mean, feels weird to say, but Craig has had sex in all of his films. In this film, he has sex within the first half an hour…

Fair play, good comments. I might just be overly concerned, but the sensitivity I see around me scares me these days. I will report back later tonight - time to go enjoy a nice dinner and the film. Wish me luck <3

It's not just you CraigMooreOHMSS, I too thought there was something a bit off about the title song at my screening. I couldnt work it out at the time but you're right the orchestration sounds different and not as soaring as the recorded version

I completely agree Ana did sparkle and she was a shining light in this film.
I didn't mind them being platonic, I just wish they had been just that, instead of Bond seeming out of touch by trying to seduce Paloma and her rejecting him like he misread the signals. More so for the story than anything else, he's meant to be a wounded animal over Madeline.

Like @FoxRox said maybe it would have been more interesting if Paloma was trying to seduce Bond and he's the one that pulls away. That would've cemented Bond's love for Madeline and it would have given Paloma more of a lead in there interaction.
A minor gripe with a fantastic character and a brilliant segment of the film admittedly

I didn't read it like that. I just took it as Bond going along with Nomi's cover story and maybe seeing how far she will go. Like he knows it's her who's broken his motor and correctly guesses she's a 00.

Bond definitely was a wounded animal. But it had been 5 years ... I somehow think he was not celibate during those 5 years.

I don’t think he did know about Nomi being who she was, and I think Bond thought he was getting some. His face when she went straight to the bedroom, plus the line about “not the first thing you’d take off” makes it clear he didn’t know and thought something was gonna happen.

"Shows no interest in him"? She is a professional on a job with no time for nonsense. At the end she leaves him with "I hope you stay longer next time!" That seems like a pretty strong hint to me... duh...

Personally I am not against the concept of Bond dying, or having him father a child for that matter.

I feel though it was handled poorly, lacking in subtlety and giving way to a sentimental cheesefest.

Look at how elegantly Tracy’s death was handled in OHMSS. The actor’s expression doing most of the work instead of literally saying ‘I love you’. Also didn’t last for ages.

Less is certainly more when it comes to scenes of this nature. In my opinion that is, of course.

NTTD itself even illustrates that it can do better when Bond puts Madeleine on the train. I found that scene much better-handled than Bond’s demise.
I agree with you on this.

I am just not a fan of this screenplay to be honest. Craig is certainly giving it his all, but he deserved better writing.

I feel that Jamaica-Cuba is the best section of the film for sure, maybe because it's free of the rote melodrama with Madeleine, and just focuses on thrills and fun. The subversive scene of Nomi walking into Bond's room was also clever.

I feel like the subplot of the scientist had to take some inspiration from Boris in GE, who was also meant to be like nails on a chalkboard, but I actually liked him, unlike Obruchev. I feel like the characters in GE had a bit more meat to them, tbh.

As much shit as we gave Sam Mendes for SP, one thing he might have done right is let us marvel and bask in more on the locations such as Matera, Jamaica and Cuba, which felt pretty fast paced during the first third of the film.

Prior to NTTD DC was one of my least favourite Bond's though I have to say his performance in NTTD is phenomenal this performance alone is one of the best in the series.

That's what I got out of it as well and I think the penny dropped in that moment.

It's not unacceptable but - I hate to break this to you - it's not inevitable. You see, inconveniently, we have preferences. And those don't include everyone. We're sort of like men. Who knew?

When asked about Bond's womanising, Fleming said that one woman per adventure was about right.
