The BBFC have put a 13 minute podcast on their website discussing the ratings history of Diamonds Are Forever - which they say is the only Bond film to have been upgraded from PG to 12 for home release. Interesting how the reasons for the upgrade in 2012 (for bluray) were for reasons that were not considered a problem for A/PG ratings in the 1970s and 1980s. The reasons being the bikini "speak up darling" moment in the PTS and the negative or mocking portrayal of Wint & Kidd's sexuality. Well worth a listen and they hint at more Bond podcasts to come. Wow, really Orwellian type stuff. Did you hear the part at the end when they said that the film deserved 12 due to "changing attitudes"? Get ready for all of the early Bonds to become 12 certificate in the future, that's all I can say. Any film where Bond strikes a woman is immediately up for debate. Such a shame too, since I think most of us watched these films from a very early age. The next generation might not get that opportunity.
