I would like to open a new thread on topic XY, has there been one before?

I just opened a thread only realising afterwards that a very similar one already exists.

That got me the idea of altering this thread into the following:

Maybe before we open up new threads we could propose it here and wait for a mod or other forum members to tell us if there already has been a similar one, and provide the link to it.

That could prevent double threads and possibly make the work of the mods easier?

Just an idea, and if you (the mod) think it's silly, then close this :)

Just typed in on Google - "What Bond film do you feel like watching MI6 Community" and hey presto!

    :)

It helps if one has been on this site since the Stone Age....

Actually, we have explained things very often before. ;-)

    1) Think up the most probable keywords in the desired topic.
    2) Google "Mi6community + keyword + keyword + ..."
    3) See what Google gives. Don't be lazy. Sometimes you need to try a bit.

So for example, if I wanted to know if there's a thread discussing actors who could or should play Blofeld, I'd Google,

    "mi6community + blofeld + actor"
    or
    "mi6community + blofeld + who"
    or
    "mi6community + blofeld + cast"

and if none of those returns a satisfying result, I'm confident the search is over. ;-)

Sounds like a good enough idea to me, if the Google search fails. :)
