With Bond 23 just a little over a year away...

Just a little over a year to go before Bond 23 makes its world premiere. What are your 007 opening night traditions?

They mostly involve any Bond-related corners of the internet until the film gets released at my local cinema.
  • ditto. I might read a few reviews, watch the news to see if it gets mentioned. Might put on a soundtrack or something.
  • i'm the opposite. i have a news blackout a month before the opening. i do not want to hear or see anything about it. Cue fingers in ears and any other orifice.

I've got no idea and haven't thought that far ahead yet though realising it is just over a year and a month away does make me feel good. A countdown thread may be on it's way soon. ;-)

My tradition involves taking the opening day off work,
start the day watching FRWL then spend the day pampering myself, going to the gym, using the spa, get a hair cut and then put on one of my many suits, grab my girl, go to dinner, go watch the film and then go to a bar and then go home and give my girl some sweet loving.

Same here. I like to see the movie without knowing anything about it - makes it more exciting.

I'll do a Bond-a-thon the week or two before and gear up for seeing it opening night. Can't wait!

I'll recap with CR and QoS probably back-to-back if I'm daring enough. :-D

I was thinking about doing that, but I'm really not sure if I want to watch QOS again. [-(

And since I have not long started reading the books for a 2nd time (after about 10 years since i first read them) Casino Royale just seems to annoy me a bit, in that it was almost the best film ever, but for the stupid poker scenes, floating house, and M's silly speech about the cold war and constantly trying to get a laugh.
  • I've never actually been to Venice but that sinking house thing just seemed highly suspect. I'm guessing the waters around any buildings are nowhere near as deep to submerge a three storey structure or what we saw, that scene just seemed a bit too inplausible, building sinks into the canal etc.

And (some people have spoken) that about a third of the picture was just scenes of boring mundane poker/card tactics.

From my own perspective I did enjoy it first time out, and left the theater thinking at least 'that I had seen something different' (from the usual Bond fare)

When the next Bond arrives in 2012 (50th anniversary and all), I'll go along again and take my seat and I'll think we'll just let everything fall as it may

I don't like to read too much information of what's going to happen, i.e. Bond's going to do this, Bond is going here, Bond is going there etc etc, these things kind of act by being spoilers and I like to go into my movies blind sometimes

I only hope it's a marked improvement on solace.

WTH? That's the best part of the movie!

I'll go at my workplace (movie theater), probably work that day... Once my work hours are over, I'll go eat at Subway with some friends/work colleagues, and then go at the midnight showing.

I have a bond-a-thon, read as much spoilers I can possibly take and go to the 0:07 midnight showing.

Right before I see the film, I eat a little, not too much, I drink absolutely nothing and I make sure I won't have to go to the bathroom for another two hours or so.

With the current crisis, the movie will be 90 minutes long... ;-)

Yeah I used to do that.

I can't do that. I love to have a few drinks at a bar before I go to a film and this includes Bond. Unfortunately it does mean that I need to run out to the bathroom halfway through the film. I remember doing it once during CR and QOS. I didn't miss much during QOS though. ;-)
I only hope it's a marked improvement on solace.
It would be nice. Unfortunately I have learnt not to get my hopes up when it comes to the Eon gang. Being a huge fan of most of the books and the pre Brosnan films and CR (2006) I will still see it in the cinema though.
