The Spirit of Tangier

Does anybody know the nature of the bottle of clear spirit (Dr. Swann's "inheritance") Bond discovers while ransacking L'Americain? It sure looked tasty.

It heard it was schnapps, but I'm not sure. He says something along the lines of Red Haratins or Red Herringtons. There's a beer by the name Harrington (http://harringtons.nz/) but he seemed to be drinking out of a spirit bottle.

    "Want some?"
I love the way Craig said that line.

I'd kind of wondered if the beverage was a specialty of that part of the world, but given that Morocco is Muslim, that seems right out.

To swill schnapps straight out of the bottle, you'd have to be one tough hombre. But then I guess James Bond is fairly tough.

I thought the entire L'Americain segment was boffo and quintessentially Bondian.

  • It's obviously Belvedere vodka. The guys who had the marketing deal with the film.

If that was product placement, it was a bloody piss-poor job of it--the Belvedere label was never even shown.
